Fire Extinguisher

This is new to me and seems like a great newer idea:

What do you think?

Excellent product...I have 1 of these in the back of the MH next to bed and one on my boat. They will allow you to actually walk towards the door using it like a flashlight as you go in the event the fire is between you and the door (it will be, I promise). We're sleeping on top of a massive electric nightmare. I never understood why THOR places that little white one right next to the exit door...its only useful purpose would be to enter a burning RV. If you get trapped in the back, the one at the door is useless. For those who will say "just jump out the window"...yes, I get that too!

Great comment about the Fire Ex being by the from the door.
For inside an RV or house, I think it would be the best solution.
Right in the bed room is where we will have ours.

Jumping, rather rolling out of a 7-8 foot high window? Yeah if I have to.

Great idea to mount a second extinguisher next to the bed.

I added a second fire extinguisher at the back of the RV and two more smoke alarms, about 12 feet apart . in my 2017 Thor Miramar 37.1.

My concern with this product; is that the activation of the process seems longer, and entirely unfamiliar.
Could someone Freeze-up during this stressful type of emergency, and be unable to deploy it in time?

I removed all the smoke alarms...my wife was using them as a cooking timer.

These are basically the same device as a road flare with different guts. Pull cap off and smack it against the same end it was attached to. If you have to wake in the middle of the night...in a fire...to read the directions, you'll soon meet many ancestors.

If you do some digging, this product looks like an offshoot of a chimney fire suppressant/extinguisher. Chimfex is one popular brand. The chemistry is likely taken from the NASA design, but that's likely proprietary. Notice in the video the guy skirts the details about how it works.

The original idea came from NASA who developed fire suppressant chemicals which would not damage sensitive electronics and would also not deplete oxygen, like halon does. The device was designed to use a fogging method similar to halon.

IMO, the device in the video would be most effective used as a fogger in a sealed area - which COULD apply to a motorhome. Considering how incredibly fast motorhomes flash into an inferno, I'd likely rush the wife and dogs out the back window, then ONLY if time allowed, light a couple of those and toss them at the fire - then out the widow I'd go.

I've been lax in getting another regular fire extinguisher to keep near the bed in the rear. But I think that's a good idea.

NOTE TO SELF: do NOT store these in the same compartment as the road flares!!

I'm old enough to remember the small glass globes mounted on walls that contained some sort of fire fighting liquid. One was supposed to throw this at the base of the fire.

Glad we have more choices today.

Tetracycline in glass globes was used long ago for fighting fires too.

Another easy fire system in the link above.
(The picture is through the refrigerator outside access door)

I think inhalation form those globes did more damage than burns.

Later I'll post a picture of my wind-up, burn the melty stick, bell type, hang on the Wall alarms from the late fifties.
They're very decorative.

I was hoping they would be enjoyed.

They're such a pleasant design.

If you're interested, they're always new in the box on ebay.
