Ford Recall - Loose Crankshaft Pulley Bolt – 2017 Ford E-Series & F-Series

I received a recall letter from Ford. Looks like my 2017 Thor Axis 25.2 may have a crankshaft pulley bolt improperly torqued. I'll have to get it in soon.

Here's some info... https://ford.oemdtc.com/2829/custome...eries-f-series

Anybody else get this?

Took our 2017 Vegas in, it took less than 30 minutes.

If I didn't receive the recall notification, can I assume my 2017 Axis is not included?

We received the recall on our Freedom Elite 29FE. Got it done at a Ford heavy shop did not trust CW with something like that. I think it applies to a certain set of V-10s so could affect several brands and many different kinds of rigs.

Did they have to put it up on a lift? the local dealer here says he can't lift anything over 33 feet long. Mine is a 34p.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't receive a notice, but looked up our Axis 24.1 VIN to be sure and this recall is listed for ours. I'll be calling Ford to get this fixed.

Can someone provide me with the number I need to call to see if my coach is included in the recall ?
When I click on the link above and then click for additional info I get redirected to Amazon.

Quite certain any Ford dealer can look it up with your VIN. May not be able to fix it (it seems rather few will work on RVs even if it's a simple engine only need) but they should be willing to look up this info.

I started this thread, and I finally went to the Ford Dealer on this recall. As someone else stated, it took them less than 30 minutes. The instructions were to loosen the bolt and then torque it to the proper setting. I now have peace of mind knowing it's taken care of.

Thanks for posting this. Called Ford. Ours was made in Ohio, and not affected. Thanks for the peace of mind.

Did they happen to say what the correct torque should be? It'd be easier for me to just check it myself

Can't believe at least one of you does not have an answer to whether or not it is required to put the MH on a lift to take care of this recall??

Not everyone comes back to threads that they have listed in, so they may not have seen it. Go to User CP on the left hand side of the brown line above and to Private Message and send them a message. Then it will pop us as an e-mail to them and you might get your question answered.

Page three of the recall notice instructs the dealer to position the vehicle on a hoist.

Read page three of the notice. The link is included in post 1 of this thread.

Thank you for responding - I see the requirement now. All I got was the letter in the mail. When I called the number to locate a dealer near Montrose CO the agent said I didn't have to worry about it unless the check engine light was lit.

Consider yourself lucky! At least you got a letter. I did not!
I just contacted Ford and my Axis is included in the recall and I got no notification whatsoever. I thought they were required by law to contact you in the event of a recall. Apparently I'm wrong. Looks like to be kept up to date on these things you have to be a member of a forum. Totally ridiculous!

Update: just got off the phone with Ford and according to them this is NOT a recall but a customer satisfaction issue! They informed me that until I experience the "check engine" light warning that I am not entitled to take it in to get it checked!
In other words I have to wait for something to go wrong before they will cover the service charge!
Does that seem reasonable to you?

There are a few possibilities here:
  • The letter just hasn't got to you yet
  • The dealer hasn't updated Ford with the sold-to info

You can also create an account at Welcome to Ford Owner | Official Ford Owner Site put your VIN in and then just periodically check. That website will notify you of any Ford recalls, service required, etc. (at least the Ford part).

Jamie

I have experience with bullet 2. After buying the Challenger I went to register ir on Ford Owner and the warranty info (specifically start and end dates) was off by a number of months. When talking to Ford we determined that the dealer had not properly registered the vehicle with Ford and submitted the necessary paperwork for the "Delayed Start Warranty" It took 2 phone calls to the dealer and a week overall to get the issue resolved.

For those that bought a coach off the lot go out to Ford Owner and make sure your warranty start date and mileage is correct. You may find the warranty started 6 to 9 months before you bought the coach. My start date was when Thor received the chassis from Ford.
