generator exhaust fumes? Why

Hello
We are new to this RV thing. Just wondering why motorhomes do not exhaust the generator up to the "top" of the unit instead of out the rear side near a perhaps opened window to kill you in your sleep.
Just a thought
Thanks for your reply
Docked at Sturgis this week.

My guess: It could be done but it would complicate the design and add cost. It's easier and cheaper to do it the way it's done presently.

I've seen city buses where the exhaust was run up to roof elevation inside bodywork. In these it was probably simpler because it went up over engine and behind passenger compartment. In an RV the design would have to protect against heat transfer, starting a fire, and roof leaks.

I think it could be done but the added cost would be hard to justify.

Chance explained it!

Cost.

Even on 5th Wheel, and TTs that have generators, it's always underneath the RV.

It is rather easy to bootleg a Gen-turi, if you don't want to purchase one.

Cost is correct! And that pipe would get very hot for a small hand someday!
