We recently purchased the Garmin RV 770. Very happy with the purchase. Love the features and it's huge. :-)

The Garmin RV series is based on the commercial DIZL line. You put in the length, height, weight, and GVWR. It routes one around anywhere it won't fit. I hear the Rand McNally GPS has the same feature.

(Complete Newbie here...)
While I'm familiar with Garmin GPS units: I wonder how their features compare to the ones from Magellan.
The local RV dealer is pushing the Magellan.
I've had good experiences with Garmin 660s and 590s on my motorcycles.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I got the Garmin RV 770 LMT-S (the S gets you free maps for life), and I am very pleased. All of my research pointed me to that unit. I briefly looked at the Magellan and the Rand, but saw better reviews and usability with the new Garmin. I also use good old regular maps and trucker atlas' but as the trip progresses I like the size and the options of the 770...got a non-slip holder that allows it to sit on top of the dash almost right in front of me...

The LM is Lifetime Maps
The T is Traffic capable

Got the Garmin 770LMT-S 2 weeks ago and I have to say its has been a great purchase. A lot of your typical GPS functions remain the same only its super fast and the screen is huge. There are plenty of other very cool functions to help with RV travels. Too many to list. As other people have said don't rely on a GPS solely and have a good map to use because as we know technology is not foolproof. I know $400 is a lot of money but for me it was worth it.
