Pressure Regulator - To use or not?
I use a Camco fixed pressure regulator (40-50 lbs. of pressure)and a Camco Pure Taste (Blue cylinder) in-line water filter before the water enters the motorhome. There is also a whole house water filter inside. I know this set-up reduces the shower faucet pressure. So, my question is, do I really need to use a pressure regulator? I have been RVing for 30+ years and so used to a pressure regulator that I am afraid NOT to use one. What are your thoughts? Thank you!

Use to use a fixed reg but like you already know it does cut the shower quite a bit. I now use a adjustable one ( you get what you pay for) with a gauge depending where I'm staying.
I eliminated the inside filter and use a inline throw away now. The inside one was mounted in a inaccessible area and was a pain when I winterized.

Use the camco ones from the camping section of wally world. I'm used to the reduced pressure but did take the restrictor out of the shower head.

I use the one from Camco that allows for a bit more pressure. (50 to 60 psi).
I have never had problems with it, and will continue using it.
(I also use an external in-line water filter...)

I have been using this regulator, does have good water flow.

I hooked up without a regulator at home and pressure blew the end out of a Camco blue filter

I have RV's many years but being connected to a hose only goes back 7 years. I would check the water pressure to see if I needed the regulator to keep below 55 lbs pressure. I had wintered in this RV park 3 previous years without a regulator. The four year everything looked OK so no regulator. But when I got up in the middle of the night there seemed to be more water pressure so connected my drag hand pressure gauge. The water pressure seemed OK but the next I morning I saw 114 lbs pressure. The municipal water supplier had a regulator that did not close completely thus on on low water usage high pressure so now I always use a regulator even filling my fresh water tank.

I always use a regulator. No downside. There are too many potential problems with unknown water supplies. Even if you check the pressure at hookup it could change for any number of reasons. Like maybe late at night when overall campground demand is low. Then you blow out a fitting and it’s midnight on a Sunday and your 1000 mikes from home....

I always use a regulator... Just add Oxygenics shower head and you'll have no more worry about water pressure.

With a tankless hot water heater, you almost have to have an adjustable regulator, set between 50 and 55psi. We just got back from a week in an RV park along the coast, their water pressure was a tad under 50psi, but the tankless HW heater did fine.

Hose & Pump on
I use a water pressure regulator, but If I am at a site with bad pressure I keep my fresh tank full and when I take a shower I turn the pump on with the park water open.
This makes a big difference in shower pressure, and does not use that much water from the tank. I then refill the tank as needed (approx every 6 showers).

Same here...I use the pump all the time. i only hook to the city water if tank gets low. Always have the same pressure and don;t have to worry about water quality of an unknown source. If I do hook to city water, I only turn it on when taking showers. Otherwise...we use the pump.

NOPE!
I only hook up the water supply to fill my onboard fresh water tank, then disconnect..use the 12v pump exclusively..

I always use a regulator when hooked up to city water. Keep the regulator on the hose. No downside. I’ll use city water at a nice park with modern looking facilities. Again, no downside that I can see. I keep my tank only about a third full unless I’m going to need it. Water’s heavy stuff!

I agree with Pete, there just is no downside that I know of, using the regulator for the city water connection. I typically carry between half and 2/3rds on the fresh water tank so we can flush etc., when we are not hooked up, but always city water when there are hookups.

It sure is... We don't waste our rig's load capacity with it...

Maybe this should be another topic buttt...I disagree with the word never, or I would add places to end of your statement. Then I would agree.
I don't drink water from my fresh water tank or drink water from a privately monitored system.
As I understand Texas is one the the few states that monitors and controls the private water systems used by the public. That I start using on the second day.
Where ever you are located, clean your connection and bleach the hose also if not used daily
