I went out and bought some stainless steel safety (lacing) wire from my local auto parts store and though that I could use it to attach one. However, when I looked again by bending the side of the screen out it still left a gap around the chrome tip/plate that rendered the screen useless.
My problem, and it is personal, is that I don't want to chance scratching the full body paint for something that may or may not work.
From what I have learned this is a relatively new model line for Atwood and it may take some time for the after market folks like Camco to catch up. Until then I guess I'll just pull the exhaust tube periodically and make sure it is clear of mud and other debris before turning on the furnace.

for what its worth, my furnace screen went "under" the furnace coverplate, so no chance of scratching the paint.
Then for my water heater screen, it was made to clip over..... I didn't like the look, figured it would be likely to fall off &/or scratch the paint..... so I cut and modified it to fit under like the furnace. Much neater and much more secure....

AFMD30141 furnace
I am looking for the manual to this furnace, I haven't had problems yet with bugs but I am glad I read this thread so I can prevent them.
Thanks

We have a huge mud dauber problem when we leave the RV for a while in KY. I wonder if a temporary screen over the various openings for use only when it is parked for a while would work. Take off the screens when using the RV.

I duct tape the openings when parked for storage and remove it for travel. The tape comes in several colors and my wife had some for a project that is close to the color of the coach which worked out nicely. Sometimes it leaves a sticky residue, but that is easily removed with a little WD40 or similar. Never have any problems with wasp and spiders.

Shield to adapt for Atwood
My heater is an Atwood AFMD 30121
I adapted Camco 42145 for this application. Using wire cutters, I snipped off the excess at the bottom, just above the bottom set of screws. I cut so as to leave a section to fold under as the 4th side. Some duct tape to prevent scratches from the cut edges, and done. 10 minutes.

I posted this on another thread...this works...
regarding mud daubers, nests, etc...
Go to Farm Supply and buy Cattle Ear Tags which are saturated with bug repellent..they come 25 to a bag for less than $20 ... hang one or two of those tags inside the water heater vent, refrigerator vent, furnace vent ...also in your a/c on the roof .
This recommendation was given us a number of years ago, by a rv salesman. Ron replaces them each Spring. (and yes...we have had mud daubers in our a/c unit..since using these, we have not had any problem)

Will those cattle ear tags keep mice out of the RV if they are placed in drawers, or are the tags poisonous?

You do not want to use them for that purpose...however, I have heard and read an article that Bounce Dryer Sheets in the drawers & cabinets will deter mice, roaches and ants. I have not tried this, but, it is inexpensive to try !
and non-toxic !

I have used Bounce but they don't work very well. I have put mothballs in a glove compartment in a truck and the mice rolled them aside and built a nest.

If I come across something, I will post it. Some of the other coach owners posting here, have voiced the same problem..and have placed rat/mouse killer on the perimeter of the coach when in storage.

Looking forward to hearing what you come up with.
I've found best cure for mice is a hungry cat. Better than one are two hungry cats.

I found this on another forum...no nothing about it.
"I have had issues in the past... I had a mouse infestation and I used this repellent called Store it Right. It is a pouch that has scents that mice don't like and it was safe to use around my family and my dog. It worked out great! "
"We use Irish Spring soap bars. Have used this for more than 6 years; seems to work and it has a very pleasant aroma."
The folks who use Bounce Dryer Sheets state that they go overboard..
all of these comments were on RV Forum Community
In addition..when we put our coach in storage, we clean it out completely..of any food stuff..even cans...clothing...blankets...anything that might have an odor that might attract the critters !
hope this helps !

I second that on the Irish Spring. We have mice in our RV lot now that the resident feral cats have vanished a couple of years ago. Haven't had any problem with the mice. I keep a couple of bars under the hood in storage and a few placed around in out of sight areas inside.

Did not know there was more than one. I get the block of green bars at Sams. I open one end of the box, cut the flaps off and leave the soap in the box. They seem to last (smell) a little longer that way and if the bars attract moisture, don't make a mess.

Yep, there is a blue Irish Spring with some kind of "scrubbing" particles. I'll get the green.

THANK YOU ! for the Irish Spring suggestion .... the place where we store our rv, apparently, has rodent control as we have never seen any traces of bugs/mice...and I have used Bounce too....however, we are getting Irish Spring too !!
Happy Camping !

Thanks for the information. I have been saving Irish Spring used-up bars of soap for a long time. Now I can do something with them.

be sure to use mcr's recommendation..and wrap it, somewhat, leaving one end exposed....so it does not get messy due to moisture in some places.
