It appears low so should be very stable and more energy efficient at highway speeds. I like that it’s based on a 4-wheel design making it more “automotive”. Maximum reported range seems better than Ford electric Transit van, although there’s no information to compare cost, battery size, or payload.

Yeah; hasn't been discussed on here yet but I've already seen about a half dozen articles about it (all seem to be regurgitating GM's press release about it).

The cool thing is, if the graphic is what the vehicle will look like, its already got a Class A front sort of

I wonder what would have developed; if GM had stuck to it?

Oh they would have been way ahead of everyone else but alas.. (It could also be argued that battery tech wasn't "there" back then but had GM continued development of EVs battery tech research would have got a kickstart earlier and we'd be further along now; and, likely, there'd be no Tesla, or Rivian, or ....)

I thought that's why they hired all of those engineers out of college...
They looked at the bottom line, and got cold feet.
We saw the EV-1 back in 1997. GM had a great display of it at Walt Disney World.

Right but it was killed from the top.

Imagine what all that extra power system development time could have brought us...
Your Bolt might have had a 1000 mile range...

To me it looks similar in size to compact Class As common in Europe, Asia, and Australia, although it’s difficult to tell just how wide it is from a picture. It probably is wider than a standard single-rear-wheel van like Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Transit (which are 80 inches wide) because it has marker lights front and rear. I’d guess it “may” be 7-feet wide since that’s a common width for walk-in vehicles of this type.

It’s obviously only a prototype, yet it’s fun evaluating pictures which reveal design details. To me the van looks like it has 16-inch tires, so probably limited to around 10,000 pound GVWR. Could be higher if new tires with higher load rating are manufactured (it’s about time they do).

The rear view shows load floor should be around 24 inches high. That would make a motorhome about 9-feet tall possible, and under 10 feet likely.

Looking at closeup of rear I can’t see a normal truck differential, so it’s either FWD or more likely uses a more advanced rear suspension. I expect it should be independent on all four corners.

Closeup of rear also shows GM designed a slight fairing into rear cap; likely to reduce aerodynamic drag somewhat — although still a box for the most part.

If it could do 170 miles at moderate highway speeds, and charge 170 MPH, it would have some potential as a camper.

Personally, for the time being I’d prefer Thor build a baby Axis about that size; built on gasoline E-Series.

GM website has some general specs on size. It’s really too bad no US auto manufacturer builds a regular van in this size range because it would make a very spacious Class B (relative to van campers). Dimensional proportions appear very well thought out.

It’s 24 feet long, 85 inches wide, 107 inches tall, and just over 600 cubic feet of cargo volume.

The electric is AWD and available just under 10,000 pounds GVWR. Payload is mentioned at 2,200 pounds which sounds pretty weak compared to gas vans. Must have about 200 kWh of batteries which adds a lot of weight.

As a side note: The forum software there is a lot nicer than here LOL.
We never did get that updated look and feel at the end of last year, but I digress.

I just saw a story about an electric motorcycle: the Sondors Metacycle.
80 mph top speed
80 mile range
$5,000
