lgnition key lock nightmares

Hello good ppl of this forum, I am hoping someone can help me with a problem. I have a THOR class A . it is a Columbus 325 from 1994. I lost my only ignition key and my buddy decided to drill out the key lock and start the rig with a screwdriver while I was away. Yes I know....he watches too much TV..

Here is my question:
If I Remove the steering wheel and

Remove the key lock from its housing on the column,. ..
If I replace the old with a NEW key lock mechanism and make the nessasary connections,,...
WILL IT RUN??? Or do I have to code the new part to the engine, before it will Run????? Help I'm stuc,,. k between a motor home and a hard place

Did he offer to pay for the damages that his "Youtube LockSmithing course" may have caused?
I got nuthin' for this one...

But Since your RV dates to 1994: I don't think they were using coded keys back then. Get a new ignition switch with a key that works, and you should be fine.

AND the drill out of your Buddy's hands!
