House batteries replacement
I am in the process of replacing my house batteries. It came with two batteries but my understanding the more batteries the longer used of equipment. I do not dry camp or boom. Could I get away in using one house battery instead of two? For a 2014 Class C Citation from Thor

Did your current configuration include 2 6 volt in series or 2 12 volt in parallel?
If you try going with a single 12 volt deep cycle they are generally big and expensive.
My prior class C came with one 12 volt as standard and one 12 volt as an optional equipment add on.
Bottom line, yes you can get away with a single 12 volt battery depending on your power requirements.

Yes my RV came with two 12v battery. I think the bedroom tv run on batteries when dry or boom. beside the lights. But I am not planning to run the tv with the batteries only shore or generator.

Mine came with the optional 12v house battery like Dave's. You should be able to get by on one 12v instead of the two as he mentioned.

On my prior class C all my televisions (3 of them) were Jensen 12V televisions. There was never a problem when connected to shore power or running the generator. There was a drain if they were on and the coach was running off battery power.
Also keep in mind, that the house batteries serve as emergency starting power if the chassis battery should go dead for one reason or another. Two house batteries do supply more cranking amps than one.

Good point about emergency cranking. Was thinking the same thing.

Your lights, water pump, furnace, heater, and fridge control boards, antenna amplifier, slide-out motors, leveling jack pump (if so equipped), and stereo (when parked) all run off your 12VDC batteries.
I would highly recommend replacing both batteries, especially if you have leveling jacks as a single battery might not provide enough power to properly lower/raise them.

Hello to everyone I received good points on battery and base on them I going to replace both batteries. Thank you all. I think I am going with Interstate in-group 27.

You might also look at the Interstate group 31. They are only a few dollars more yet have about 40% more capacity. They are slightly larger so they might not fit.
For my coach, I could fit group 31 batteries in there if I did not have the Quik-Fill watering system. The Quik-Fill manifolds, when sitting atop the batteries, is just a bit too high for group 31s to fit into the battery compartment.

Has anyone tried running three 12V in parallel?

There should be no problem. However, the more batteries you put in parallel without having any isolation between them, the higher the risk that a bad battery will damage the others.
Also, without isolation, you should always replace all of the batteries at the same time, with the same model, AH capacity, etc.

Yes I seen this video, and thats what I did. I dont think three 12v stand a chance with my wife. She'll manage to drain them down. and yes I do have a 100w solar panel. I try not to run the generator.

I guess this has been taken care of, but for what its worth.... my coach came with one marine/RV type 12V
It was dead from abuse while sitting on the dealer's lot, but was replaced under warranty with a like kind.
The replacement is a 160AH 12 volt.
It has been ok and is enough to get us through daily rest stops and has even worked well for several off grid overnight stops, during the cooler season running the furnace a bit. (and lights, water pump, starting generator in the AM for coffee, etc...)

How did you get the dealer to pay for the battery? I've had my RV for less than 2 months and the batteries only last about a half day powering just the fridge (and LP detector I suppose). Dealer is saying that's normal, but I feel that is pretty weak for 2 12V batteries with a full charge.

It was really soon after buying...maybe the following day...well I did my PDI on a Saturday, stayed the 1st night in it Saturday night.... so I would have known by Sunday....it was probably Monday when i called.
I just called them and told them the battery was bad. made an appointment.
If they won't test them, I'd suggest going to a batteries plus store, or any autoparts store, and asking them to put their tester on them. Then at least you'd have something to base the claim on.
But, I'm sad to say, the problem I see in your case is the 2 months.
It only takes 1 time drawing them down to near zero to hurt a battery. Two to three times and they are basically dead for good.
So who's to say you didn't draw them down to 30% a few times....or draw them down to zero a couple times.....

I suppose they could argue that. I run a cable out to my RV to keep them topped off. I haven't been below 50%, but I start getting inverter errors around the 50% mark

Yeah, I'd get them tested so you know what the capacity tests to....and go make the argument for warranty. Doesn't hurt to try....
Running the fridge for only half a day?
Is that a 3-way fridge on 12 volts, on LP, or a residential fridge on inverter?
I'm imagine that a resi fridge when it goes through defrost cycle would drain even a golf cart battery quick....
