King Jack

I have a 2017 ACE 29.3 with the King Jack antenna. I am concerned about the placement of the antenna in relation to the AC unit. My King Jack is dead center on the AC unit street side, The head of the King is 14in from the AC unit. When I turn the antenna toward the AC its pointing right at it. Both Thor and King Controls said all is well.

Do other ACE owners have their antenna in the same location, and if so how is the reception? At home I am only getting one major network plus fox.

Has anyone tried to relocate the King Jack or figure out a way to raise it above the AC unit.
Thanks

If I understand digital TV signals, they are no affected by line of sight - they will get around the AC. But I can understand your concern about getting only FOX ....

I am giving you a link to the thread recently posted, regarding one of our members replacing his old model antenna with a King Jack and his concern with direction of the antenna.
An enlightening bit of information he received from King Jack Tech support.

In addition...I am not sure where our KingJack is placed on the 24.1 in relationship to the placement on your motorhome...but, we get great reception..this past weekend we found 32 channels using antenna only. Granted, we were about 45 miles from greater Kansas City.

There are so many variables in this situation, that predicting what will be or measuring what is the resulting reception pattern would be very difficult. It will also vary from channel to channel and UHF and VHF could be entirely different. The easiest way I can think of would be to get an outdoor or indoor regular TV antenna and connect it to the TV directly. Place or hold it near where the King antenna is and compare the results with the two antennas.

However my king antenna is about 3 feet from the center of the A/C unit and receives signals that I know originate from the direction of the A/C just fine.

Also be sure the antenna amplifier is turned on. On mine it is a push button on the antenna jack plate. It illuminates a green light also on that plate when on. That switch needs to be on for antenna and off for cable.

Did you rescan the tv? You have to do it every time you relocate.

Thanks for the info. I will try the separate antenna, I was also thinking of trying a different brand of TV maybe it scans better.

I just had my coach in yesterday and asked the service manager if he would slap a new King Jack on for me. He said he could but first asked me if my old antenna was working. I told him it was but just wanted a little better antenna that I didn't have to raise or lower. He said they have had a run of customers with newer RV's coming in and having the OEM King Jacks replaced with crank up antenna models. According to him folks just were not getting as many channels with the King Jacks.

I told him to hold off and not install one.

You can always replace the head of the crank up with a king jack, the best of both worlds:
