Making a hole for satellite cable

Hi all,

I bought a DISH satellite and currently have the cable going under the door where I worry about someone tripping on it or getting tangled up in it (most likely me). Has anyone ever made a hole in the RV to be able to put the cable through that so that its out of the way?

Much appreciate any advice!

Two possibilities;

Buy a flat coax cable and run it in through a window

Connect the satellite cable to your outside cable inlet on your coach. If you do this then the roof antenna booster needs to be off. When it is on, the signal from the outside cable inlet is disconnected from the coax cable in the coach.

If your receiver needs a 3 Ghz signal then neither suggestion may work. However, it's worth a try.

Thanks

Thanks Bruce. I'm going to order it from Amazon right now.

I was told the same thing about the booster but have so far been unable to locate it in my coach. It doesn't appear that I have one. My DISH satellite won't work through the coach cables no matter how I connect it.

It seems like you somebody asks about drilling holes in a RV, nobody will give you a straight answer. I drilled a 3/8" hole in to the floor sealing it up with silicone. a single 25 foot length from TV to rear of coach. no other connections. But I will not drill into a wall.

I always look for where the manufacture has all ready ran wire and just squeeze mine in with theirs and after all done looks like it has always been that way.

Didn't your coach come with an external coax cable connector?

If it did, just use that entry point, but plug the wire inside the AV cabinet into your satellite receiver, and not the multi-switch box "cable in" jack where it's very likely connected to right now.

If your coach didn't come prepared for satellite, (or cable-tv for that matter), then your best options have been mentioned by others. Use an existing hole where other wires or hoses are already entering the coach, or drill up from the floor, and not through a wall.
