Since my reply was right after your post, with nothing in-between: it should have been pretty obvious.
But who am I; to say what you need?

But...
You can sometimes find yourself feeling as if the engine is revving too high.
The computers won't let it commit 'Overrev Suicide".
But I could never resist dropping out ot Tow/Haul mode every once in a while, and letting the transmission regain it's composure.
And I'd start the process all over again.

Gas engines have limited “engine braking” capacity, just like they have limited power-producing capacity.

While making power, “the computers” can control throttle and fuel injection to limit power and or RPM if that was what was needed, but when an engine is not making any power, and is only trying to slow a heavy motorhome down a mountain, what exactly can the computer do? Throttle and gas are essentially already closed so what’s going to limit engine from going faster and faster unless brakes are used?

Just to be clear, I know the correct answer. I’m asking a rhetorical question to help clear this issue.

And to be extra clear, I’m not suggesting riding brakes is the right answer either.

The old stand-by: pump our brakes, monitor how hot they're getting, and be prepared to find a run-off escape route!

We learned to trust the transmission and engine to keep the speed down. When we see the signs for a downgrade; we set the cruise control 10 mph below our desired speed of 45 mph. We are able to maintain speed without going over 4200 RPM, or using the brakes during a 10 mile descent on I-70 west bound from Denver. On long grades we follow the speed warning signs for truckers. Once you get used to the engine rev and handling, you may want to add sound proofing to over your transmission and inside the engine cover. 2019 RC-25 Quantum (w/cargo trailer, 2 Harley-Davidsons) 2018 E450 Chassis
