New tires calling for 95 psi

Much depends on your actual weights on each corner. We have our tires set to 82 for the rear axle and 85 on the drive axle based on getting weighed on all 4 corners at the summer FMCA rally. It is a much more comfortable ride than when dealers inflate them to the max sidewall pressure.

Keep in mind that the tires can be somewhat soft and give a softer ride or up to the manufacturer's printed PSI but that usually ends up with a harsher ride (your tires will be like rocks and you will feel every bump.) However, you may also experience undue wear if the tires aren't within a certain percentage of what they should be inflated to.

We have a Hurricane 35C so it is probably pretty close to your overall weight, but we are full timers and tow our car so we are more than likely closer to our GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) than you may be. 70 seems a little low, maybe inflate to 78 to 80 all around and check the ride out.

Without knowing actual weights - I would run at the placard pressure in the RV (label near drivers seat on mine)... This is based on the max gross weight of the rig.

If you know the axle or corner weights - you can adjust pressure based on tire manufacturers data to a softer - but safe - ride.

No need to run the tires max pressure unless that matches one of the above.

I'm running what the label in the RV says for long trips - verified by weights that for extended trip I am flirting with max weight...

I wanted a softer ride......so the front I put 80, the rear 82, I have 13000 miles. I just spent 1350 for two front tires and another alignment, I’m now up to 100 psi, yes a little firm but need tires to last awhile. Jerry

Use the manufactures placard for tire inflation, as a general guide until you can weigh and know for sure. Temporarily it would be safe to add maybe five PSI to the recommended PSI until you know for sure.

I am for harder rather than softer tires. I will sacrifice a smoother ride for a rougher and louder ride. Harder tires have less heat buildup on hot days and they have less rolling resistance. I run the tires on all of my vehicles with pressure at the upper limit and have never had a tire prematurely wear out in the center of the tread.

This looks like a good spot to post this. I just had the front end aligned and checked over. I asked the technician how the alignment was and was told," slightly out but nothing critical. but you are going to need new front tires." The tires are wearing evenly on the outsides both left and right tires. I have been running 84-85psi, placard in cabin says 82psi, Goodyear chart says
80 psi. Front Axel weight is 6000#, I have not had an opportunity to weigh each corner so used 3000# for each tire.I thought about increasing tire pressure to 90psi, but realized that the alignment shop put in 100 psi so I will try that. Seems to me that I am running to low a pressure. Any thoughts why tires are only wearing on the outsides.

Had the same issue. Replaced front tires and now run 95 all around. Much better results. Jerry

A little different topic.For five dollars I had nitrogen put in my six tires.some think this has no effect but I’m convinced. Rig calls for 95 psi and that’s what I keep them at. Traveled cross country and back for 4 months. Every time I checked them they were 95. Came home and needed warranty work done, the rig sat for a couple of weeks in CW and then another month or 2 in driveway. When I checked them the lowest tire was 93. Was kind of amazed. While some think nitrogen will not make difference I don’t. For 30 or 40 $ why not try it. Works for me. Most truck stations have it. Just my experience. I actually stopped checking them while on the road. They were always spot on.

My previous Open Range TT had nitrogen filled tires and over the two years I owned it...never had to add a single pound to any of the tires. I don't understand why it works that way...but it does!!!

Our RV (F-53) was out of alignment and wore the outside edge of the right front tire. I had it aligned and had that tire rotated to the inside rear. All has been fine for several thousand miles.

I fill my tires AND inside entire cabin area with Helium.

The RV now scales out a 2500# and I get 39 mpg! But on windy days (and empty tanks of coarse) it will leave the road if you go to fast and float to the next mile marker. LOL

The Upside is the tires last alot longer.

Down side is we sound like chipmunks going down the road. LOL
