Question about OBD code reader/reset

A year or so ago a Wheel Speed Sensor on my 2012 Sprinter/Siesta failed and the computer shifted to Limp Home mode, which meant 1st gear. I live about 35mi from the MB Sprinter service facility and since I didn't know the exact nature of the failure didn't want to risk damage by limping, and I mean limping, 35mi.
If I had been carrying a OBD reader and understood the nature of the problem I probably would have made the trip on backroads. As it was, transporting the rig involved disconnecting the driveshaft and reconnecting it after service-- to the tune of $750 for the total package!
I got the mailing about warranty extension and have filed for a refund.
If anyone has an OBD reader they are happy with or other suggestions, I'm all ears.
Spring's around the corner here in NH (wishful thinking!).
Thanks, Peter

Several options. Some are complicated. The AUTEL AP200 will read codes and provides live data, bluetooth thru your phone. You buy the unit then download program for phone - Download valid for only specific vehicle ("Sprinter vans" etc)
Good discussion here. https://sprinter-source.com/forums/i...threads/88812/

I use a scan gauge for reading codes. It seems odd that a wheel speed sensor would throw the coach into limp mode. I have had them chewed by mice on both my Honda and Nissan and not had any engine performance problems.

It's a well documented Sprinter thing.
