2020 Thor Freedom Elite 23H- camera and radio panel won’t work unless generator on

Hello, new RV’s here. We just purchased a 2020 Thor freedom elite 23H motorhome. On our first trip everything worked fine and no problems. On our second trip we noticed that our back up camera and radio panel will not operate unless the generator is turned on. I’ve done many searches on this forum and cannot figure out how to get it working again. Can anyone help please? All breakers are on but lights, back air conditioner, and even fridge will not work either when driving. I think it’s something to do with the house batteries under the steps. They should be operating the “house” and front cab panel when the engine is off and we are not utilizing a secondary power supply (i.e. generator or shore power), correct? Thanks everyone!

Your house batteries have to be connected to the house DC buss in order for any house loads to operate when driving. This INCLUDES the dash radio/camera display.

The Air Conditioner will not work while driving unless your generator is running as it uses 120 VAC. Your fridge should work once the house batteries are connected as it uses 12 VDC as control power.

To connect the house batteries your battery disconnect has to be connected, or your USE/STORE switch as to be in USE.

The use/store button is on but NOTHING in the RV works (i.e fridge, lights, radio/camera screen). We did trip the GFI breaker when I plugged in a hairdryer. We reset it, checked all the breakers and fuses in the converter box, and the use button is on. I’ve been watching lots of videos and reading through this forum and everyone keeps referencing a “reset button” by the house batteries but I can’t find it. We have solar as well and the batteries are showing fully charged. Can anyone tell me where this mysterious reset switch is in the 2020 Thor Freedom Elite 23H? Thanks!

How do you know the USE/STORE switch is in USE?

The "reset switch" you refer do is actually a DC breaker that uses a flag to indicate tripped. You push the flag back in to reset it. It will be directly connected to the positive side of your house batteries by a cable, usually withing 4 feet of it.

Ted is correct, The circuit breaker should be located close to your battery for proper safety. But, on my coach it is located under the bed in the back of the the motorhome near the charger/breaker box. I bet its tripped.

Thanks. Yes, this what we’ve been looking for. In the 2020 model it’s right under the step floor board next to the batteries but it’s not there in the 2019. I’ve asked the dealership to call ya back or send me a picture of where it’s located but no return call.

Good Morning All within this thread

I am a newbie with a 2017 23H...I have the same exact issue as previously described...I have 2 storage batteries under the step...nothing works when I have the switch on USE....Can one of the experts advise me where the "circuit breaker" is located on this model/year unit? I don't see anything from the top side of the batteries...Thanks in advancefor any help!!! Mike/NC

Exclamation

I don't have that particular model, but from past postings it appears you may have to climb under the RV near the batteries to find it. It should be located somewhere fairly close to the batteries.

And...WELCOME to the forum!

Try following the positive(red) cables on the batteries. The breaker will be connected to one of them.
