Recent GPS poor reception?

Anybody else notice last couple weeks or so weaker than normal GPS reception? I get continuously losing signal. Never had the best since still trying to figure out where inside a Hurracane is a good mounting position. But has been exceptionally poor lately. Thx Dennis.

Do you have a plug for an external antenna? It might be worth mounting one up on the roof.

Yea that's definitely the obvious location but sure hate putting holes in the roof!!! I thought if I could find a place higher in RV, maybe high inside fiberglass cap, and between the metal framing it may work sufficiently. But so far I've been unable to locate that sweet spot. And don't really want to start ripping out headliners!!!

I thought I may call Thor and see if they could give me drawing of metal framing on front cab and above drop down bed. We'll see and maybe I can find a spot.

But it does seem last couple weeks it has been worse!!! Thx, Dennis.

I attached/bonded a Stainless Steel Plate to the side of our Vegas, then using a magnet with a 90 Degree Marine mount to attach an outside WiFi antenna, should be capable of adapation for a GPS external antenna. I did one on both sides and when not in use I have a Flag Magnet I put on the plate.

I use GPS every day and have had no weak signal issues here in Florida.

In my ACE my GPS is mounted by suction cup to the left side of the woodgrain dash. Seems to receive fine there.

I have a very easy fix for your problem. Upgrade your GPS software, install the new updates and maps. If your GPS is older than 5 years, purchase a new one for the latest technology and maps.

No problems with ours, two sit on the dash above the radio and a third sits on the dog house between the seats.

Let me add this is a Jensen VM9725BT and installed in dash. Not that easy or cheap to just change. I guess I should have mentioned that.
I will look into updating software and maps but not sure that will cure anything as to what I'm asking. The satelites are never found to begin with. I guess software could cause this but I will check antenna connection first if I can get to back of radio. It's like it lost the antenna all together that's why I was asking about locations of antenna others having reception issues or just me!!! It appears sitting still GPS will find my location but as soon as I move nothing else.
I will look around. I like the idea of the SS plate outside but thought SS was not magnetic. Or, does it just take a really strong magnet? Thx, Dennis.

Pull it out of the dash, the GPS antenna connector may have popped off or loosened up.

Thx JamieGeek. I hoping the connector is all it is and that simple. But I have tried to remove before. Whoever installed did not use the metal box (case, not sure what called) but screwed in directly. Can't find all mounts used or I can't get to. May have to find a Geeksquad or someone similar. Maybe a auto audio store can check. Not sure if they are familiar w RV dash guts. But health definitely keeps me from too many odd lying or bending positions.
I think I can reach rear of radio thru large front hole or have to go thru heating vent hole at least to feel if antenna came loose. Drawing shows antenna mounted to left rear of radio. I hope to be able to reach it. Will try today. Thx, Dennis
