Get a 4” foam topper and cut to fit on your current mattress. You can get a decent topper at WalMart for about $120 or so.

That's just about the only advice I would accept when talking about mattresses. It's easily disposable and can be tried as a topper and an underlayment, doubled and halved.

The op didn't tell us
Hard
soft
Lofted
Flat
Tucked
Foam
Feather
Memory foam
Air mattress
Select
Discount
Custom made.
Medical malfunctions
Weight malfunctions
Ambulatory restrictions

How could anyone ever recommend a mattress?

Possible option for you. I bought the 8". Couldn't be happier. Also fulltime.

Just note, you have to make sure your sheets will work or buy new ones. I use regular queen sheets. They work well because of the thickness.

Been in out 34J for 4 years. Bought a topper at Walmart not soon after we purchased MH. It never fit right, cause its a Short King. Topper always moving under sheet.

Just pulled the trigger on a 10" RV Mattress.com Hybrid. We'll see how that works. Hopefully better than the topper.

Check out mattressinsider.com They make custom mattresses for rvs. We have a organic cotton king in our windsport 29m and love it. Much cooler than foam

We put a 4" memory foam topper on ours and it works great...it drowns out the crunching of the wheat straw in the original mattress...but...the My Pillow dude now makes an RV specific queen mattress. Has good reviews and he truly will take it back if you don't like it

Giving this some deep thought in our 'new to us' 25.2 Axis.
Current mattress is "RV Queen Short" which is 60"x75". Too short for both of us.
"RV Queen" is 60"x80"--just 5" longer! Won't cut it!

I'm thinking, without spending a fortune, to extend the bottom on the mattress frame 10". As my frame has to fold up in half, there is plenty of room vertically for this extention and enough room horizontally when folded down with slideout extended.

Using existing mattress, slide it down to new foot, and use a filler of some sort (to be sourced beforehand) at the top. Comfort, I believe, will not be a problem, as we sleep on large pillows anyway.

Any comments, criticisms, further suggestions, etc??

Toppers are not all the same even when reordering the same thing, it might come back different. A dozen years ago I got cooling gel memory foam laminate topper from Walmart. Used it a while and then got a queen mattress from Sams. Gave the topper to my sister who travels in a view type with corner bar. They love it. GF ordered from Amazon some 3" thick laminate memory foam toppers. She cut them up as mattress for the bunks in the bunkhouse 5th wheel. Worked great. A year later she wanted more so went to the past order and ordered from Amazon the exact same thing. What came was completely different, not memory foam sections just cheap foam. Was even packaged like original. She returned it. Cheap poor quality chinese crap.

I want to plop my butt and back on a mattress before buying. I'm considering replacing the Valencia mattress officially call an "olympic Queen", 66x76. I'd cut the base support to 60" wide, get a tempurpedic and shorten it 4". The tempupedic I can check out at a local store. My previous Itasca DP had one, it was a Costco branded version, and it slept great and retained shape.

34J overcab bunk

I'd like to replace the skinny mattress in the dropdown bed over the driver and passenger. would a matress topper work as a replacement for the mattress that came with the coach? adding a topper makes it so I cant raise the bunk into the stow position.

It would have to be a very thick topper - they do make them and you would probably need to cut it to size. It may be very soft as a mattress though.
