If you have less than 1/4 tank of fuel the generator will shut down, also
if the road is rough that bouncing will cause float to bounce.
I agree that a bouncing carburetor float could be a problem.
Heat is also a factor, we tried running the generator to run the A/C in
Arizona in the heat (104 degrees) and the generator shut down. This was
in a 2015 Thor Hurricane 34E gas class A MH.

I am not sure where the Hurricane generator is placed, but it's at the rear on the Windsport where it won't be affected by engine heat.

Hot hot hot. Lake Havasu was 117 degrees when we arrived at the first of June. Passengers suffered with only the AC from the cockpit. Fuel level did not matter, it shut down with a full tank. When parked, we could run it with far less than 1/4 tank. Heat likely a factor, as the genny would not restart for hours. On the other hand, we had the same problems in California and Oregon with far cooler temperatures, and the shutoff always happened on rough roads. The error code was always fuel issues. Poor planning on my part (tip - avoid Lake Havasu in summer) is no excuse for the equipment failure. Like somebody else said, "The only thing that works on this RV is the owner."

Mine in my 2013 Hurricane will shut down when at too much of an angle. I figure it’s related to low oil sensor because of angle?

Check the oil at least daily if your using the generator most of the day. It will not run if oil level is below sensor.

I hate to tell you, but if you were north of Savannah you probably were in South Carolina. Ga roads tend to be some of the best in the nation and I can reaffirm that after a recent trip to Wyoming from the east coast.

Um...my gps took us back, traveling northwest, through Atlanta. We never went into South Carolina on the return trip. I’m pretty sure I can tell (not only by gps, but also by the HUGE frikkin signs on the side of the road) which state I’m in! Thanks for the concern tho!!

Generator shutting down while driving in excessive heat

I told my wife that everyone that works in the Georgia highway department needs to be fired! I’m just hoping that everything works when we take her out again next weekend...I don’t see how they stay together, and how anything still works after a shaking like that. Anyhoo, is the generator shutting off a normal/safety issue? Any of y’all ever experienced the same?

The generator on the ACE product line has a history of shutting down while being used driving down the road in severe heat. This is common because of where the Genset is located. Too close to the engine it heats up the unit and the fuel vapor locks. Thor has known about this for years and even has come up with a GE set relocation plan where the GE set and the propane tank swap places.
I ran into this in Arizona the year before last. Did a lot of research on it and decided it is a rare occasion so I let it be.
Google search this and other blogs and you’ll get the info you need.
After your unit cools down it will run as normal

I have a question...
Why are you running the generator while driving? The only time that I ever did this; it was to spread fuel stabilizer through it's fuel system as part of the Winterization process...

Some of those box "A's" have a front end like a goldfish bowl. Just today I helped a guy with a small Vegas program his Camara at a rest stop. Sitting in the front seat was like sitting in a fire pit with glass all around me. He said it never cools off up here...even with the dash unit full blast and the rooftop going.

Another reason I went the C route. All glass is covered by cab over. Dash A/C alone keeps entire coach very comfortable underway.

Same here... That's why I was unaware of this issue in the Class-A rigs...

Not an ACE issue. It's a specific models issue. I have no problem with my generator overheating while running down the road.

I was surprised the first trip out with our Chateau Super C. The overhead sun was completely blocked coming into the cab by the overhead. Our dash A/C was enough to keep the coach cool. We live in south FL where it can be pretty extreme this time of year.

Nor is it a problem when the generator is located up front on the driver side. The generator on the 31S is located just behind the propane tank and two compartments ahead of rear tires. It has never failed to start and run on all the 95+ days we have here is south Texas.
