RoadMaster Steering Stablizer

I recently saw something from RoadMaster that they’re about to start selling a steering stabilizer that would allow you to back up your toad like a trailer. They specifically mention that they will be making a model to fit Jeep Wranglers (my toad is a 2017 JKU).

Not sure I believe it, but if true, it would be a really cool feature to have. It would certainly alleviate some of anxiousness I have when trying to decide if I can get my rig into some tight parking lots, gas stations, etc.

"Backed up like a trailer"? I'd have to see that to believe it. The caster of the toad is not going to turn the wheels in the required direction while backing up. All the stabilizer does is resist the caster forces to turn the toad's front wheels in the wrong direction. This should allow you to back the toad in a straight line for a longer distance, but not turn it like you can a trailer.

I would also think this same resistive force to turning the toad's wheels would apply in the forward direction opposing the caster forces for the steering wheels to follow the MH track and causing more wear on the front tires.

Yea, I’m skeptical too. But, RoadMaster is not a fly-by-night company, so I doubt they’d put something out there like this if they couldn’t back it up. I’d like to learn more and see some independent reviews.

Roadmaster is saying their steering stabilizer is to be installed on the towed vehicle for it to be backed up like a trailer when connected to your RV.

You will have to have a compatible towed vehicle to install one. For starters, rack and pinion steering vehicles are out.
