so you're saying the sjo for the slides is ok because they're 12v, not 120?

No. It is used for both voltages. Just too big a subject for an RV sight with a group of non-electricians. I'm outa of here.

Probably just as well. You strike me as a hit and run commentator claiming the subject is too involved for us peons because you hold superior knowledge.
Thanks for sharing what you know and educating the rest of us.

First of all the amperage ability of any wire is rated in open or closed environment as well as being rated at 30, 60, 75 C,90 C degrees for constant amperage. That means that 12/2 solid wire is rated for 20 amps at 60 C will be rated at 30 amps at 90 C degrees, Then there is the fact that the same solid wire rated for DC will care less current than the wire rated for A/C current. To say that 9 strand 12 awg wire has the same capability in the open as 12 awg solid strand Romex in a tube is fundamentally wrong. Then there is the purity of the copper wire. Most common copper is at least 99.9% pure. You can also buy 2 awg welding cable with 624 strands of 30 awg rated a 105 C degrees that is 99.99% pure and has 10% less resistance (less heat) than standard 9 strand 2 awg cable which is 99.9% pure, So saying that all 12 awg wire is the same is wrong. 10/2 Romex is orange, 12/2 Romex id yellow and 14/2 Romex is white. Now you know why a master electrician is paid so well.

It’s only 30A from the service entrance to your fuse panel. Thereafter it’s mostly 20A or 15 A so it can use the lighter gauge wire in the individual branch circuits.

Coach is 30A. I bought 14-3 SJOOW based on a previous recommendation. It's rated at 15A. 12-3 is rated at 20A. 10-3 is too fat to make the turn. Between a rock and hard place.

I'm returning the 14-3 tomorrow and getting the 12-3 (re: https://www.prioritywire.com/specs/SJOOW.pdf)

Thank you. Information I can use. I'll exchange it for 12-3 tomorrow. I plan to run the micro here and there so 12-3 gives me a greater comfort level.
