RV Mud Flaps

Just returned from our first RV trip with a tow. The tow car had lots of stone chips and lots of dirt in the engine bay. The RV currently has only the small standard mud flaps behind the rear wheels. I have seen several varieties of mud flaps and different "protective" apparatus out there on RV's and wonder what people feel is the best solution to protect the tow vehicle.

I have been reluctant to tow my vehicle for the same reason. I have seen some people put a nose bra on their car but they also sell a screen that goes between the RV and tow vehicle.

I have seen a few people use the Protect-A-Tow and they seemed happy with it. We dolly tow and other than road spray we don't have that issue.

We have used a Protect A Tow for ten years and it really works well. The rocks stay safely underneath the car. I had a bra on our previous tow car, and I think that is good extra protection for the front corners of the car.

Some say the grass skirt type shields actually kick up rocks. I see them behind other RVs sailing high and worthless anyway.

We got a Protect-a-Tow too, mostly because Mr Sunshine spoke so highly of it.

We have logged just over 1,000 miles with it and no chips so far.

Install is easy & putting it on/getting it off is a breeze.

Make sure those mud flaps behind the tires are at least as wide as the tires, on the larger coaches use the large mud flap across the back. If you do that, keep it at least 4" off the ground. Otherwise you will throw rocks at your toad.
I got mine from duraflap. Had to custom make it to keep it short enough to stay up the 4". Looks and works great.
