Steering wheel off-center

This is for the gentleman with the f 53 chassis. The steering wheel won't be in the proper position with wheel alignment. At the lower end of your steering column at the knuckle there is one bolt holding the shaft in place. With your wheels aligned ( it's better to have in on an alignment machine to be true) take that one bolt out and have someone inside to hold the steering wheel in place. Once in place replace the bolt and you are done. With someone underneath and someone inside you will be done in 10 minutes. I went to ford dealers, camping world and alignment shops and no one knew how to do it. I happened to see it on You Tube then took my ACE 32.1 back to the alignment shop and showed them how to do it. Had the same problem with 29m Hurricane. According to Thor it’s not there problem it’s a ford problem. According to ford they sell rolling chassis to the RV manufacture not responsible for steering wheel offset. I took my RV to a locale RV repair shop, he checked the alignment the reset the steering box it is now perfect $150.00

Hello! I have a Challenger 37DT with the same issue. Unfortunately, I was told by the dealer I purchased it from it can't be fixed, because there is no way to remove the steering wheel and reset it accordingly. I went a step further and took it elsewhere for an alignment to see if that would help, and for a piece of mind; unfortunately, there was a slight improvement. It takes time to adjust to it. I was warned before an alignment (not at a Ford shop) on my Thor Vegas 27.7 that they may not be able to keep the steering wheel centered - I think the explanation was insufficient adjustment of splines on the Ford steering column. However, it is close enough that I don't have any problem coping.

I have a F53 2015 chassis. I pulled my steering wheel off(need a wheel puller-can get at autozone, Riley’s, etc). Once you pull the steering wheel lose, move where you want it and then reinstall. There are two small screws that hold the casing around the steering wheel. Also, the ribbon cable for the horn can be separated.

On a 2017 35c I centered the steering wheel by myself in less than 15 minutes. IRV2 is spot on.
No need to jack it up or anything, turn wheel to allow room to crawl between wheel and steering assembly.
F.Y.I. I do have every tool needed which makes the job much easier.

Yes I did bought a new Thor ACE 30.2 last year ,same problem took it to a heavy duty truck center they line it up, sent the bill to Thor they reimburse me my money ,took about 2-3 weeks to get it

I took mine to a true heavy truck shop. They straightened the wheel, aligned it, balanced the front tires, no problem.

Mine was way off due to a steering wheel replacement when first purchased. Someone stripped the splines in the steering wheel. Steering wheel was out of index when completed, so I returned it for them to re-index. It was straight, but the turn signal cancel was out of index then and I had to hold the turn signal lever at stop lights. Took it back again and they put the steering wheel back to where it was and then re-indexed the splines at the steering box. That mostly fixed it and I just didn't want them doing anything more.

Guess I like the old ones, where a simple tie rod tweak was all that was necessary to center the steering wheel. Kind of makes you wonder, what else is unrepairable!

It does sort of make you wonder. But the needed adjustment at the steering box is actually easier and is a simple DIY adjustment with no risk of altering the alignment.
