Tellaro radio

My radio, per owners manual says with house batteries on, the radio will stay on while coach is parked. My radio turns off after 10 minutes, pretty inconvenient. I called Thor and their final answer was the radio will shut off after 10 minutes to prevent van battery from dying. So I guess the owners manual is wrong? Why would Thor build a unit without powering the radio from the house batteries? Any help would be appreciated. 10 emails have gotten me nowhere.

Tellaro is a van type, not a radio type.

When you contacted the radio manufacturer what did They say?

Sorry about that, I have a Pioneer DMH 1500 NEX. I did call Pioneer and the tech knew absolutely nothing. I have gone into the Maestro settings and changed radio accessory time from 5 minutes to 60 minutes, but it still shuts off after 10 minutes.

Have you tried leaving the key in the accessory position?

Yes with the key in the accessory position the radio stays on ,but with it off it shuts down after 10 minutes.

When Thor installs a radio in a Class A MH they power it from the house DC buss.

Is the radio in your van installed by the van manufacturer? or the RV manufacturer?

That’s normal with a vehicle manufacturer radio, it’s the same in my Ram 1500 and my wife’s car.

The Pioneer radio was installed by Thor Motor Coach

Probably directly to the vehicle radio wiring harness.

Is there a second entertainment unit in the vehicle?

Have a read of your vehicle user manual.

Try calling Thor and see what they say.

I have called Thor and they say that there is nothing wrong. Thor claims the key must be in the accessory position to power the radio while parked. The only other entertainment unit in the coach is the TV.

Owners manual on page 80 “ when parked the house batteries must be in on position to use the radio”

I received another email from Thor customer care which says, “ both the house batteries and the vehicle battery must be powered in order to use radio.”
