Outside Power or Your RV...
Hi Guys!
I've actually got the Missus more than halfway convinced that we need an outside plug for our RV...
The question is: which one?
I'm figuring that a combination 30/20 amp box with breakers that is waterproof would do the trick.
Does anybody have a favorite brand? There are so many out there, that it's easy to get discombobulated during the shopping process.
Thsnkd!

Any brand will be fine. They are all the same. You need to by the one that Matches your RV 50 or 30 amp. You can throw the 20 for convenience of other uses if you wish. Some do the 50 just for future up grade if needed. you can install a 50 and plug in a 30 using dog bone adapter. Amazon, HD, Lowe's has all you need. 50 ampis 240 volts 4 wire. 30 amps is 120 volts 3 wire.

If you're going to the expense to add a box get the combo with 50-30-20 with breakers for each then you're good for any future RV upgrades.

A 30/20 box will be more than sufficient,
I couldn't begin to drive anything larger...
But I do understand your viewpoint.

I just added this to my 30’x18’ RV Hard Cover Garage
I also added a 20amp GCFI next to it, along with a water spigot.
Unfortunately it was a 100’ run from the house so I had to use 8 gauge wire and underground conduit. It was a big job, a lot of sweat. 😓 😓 😓

I've only got to mount the box to the outside wall of my garage. (A run of less than 6 feet).
The motorhome is parked right behind the garage, and can be easily reached with a second cable.

If it helps.... I just had a 50amp box installed on side of house. The electrician had to also upgrade a few breakers for me. It cost $520. Had to run wire up into attic and then down wall in garage to reach outside area we wanted it. Hope that helps.

What About this Bob?
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Eaton-Po...-100168377-_-N
This is the very 1st thing I bought. I installed it myself almost 1 full year before getting a RV
We got 5 configurations to park the RV at home, we call this view the Sunstar Patio. I use the 20 amp all the time. i.e air compressor etc. we have 50 amp coach, but I alternate. We have yet to ever trip a breaker doing what we do when on 30 amp service. We spent the entire Memorial day weekend in Arkansas on 20 amp service. However, I only ran 1 AC.
My brother can park his 30amp Splinter next to it and we can both be connected
Note: 60amp GE Breaker in Main Electrical Panel

Cannot be more than $75 xtra to get the 50/30/20. Who's to say that your next Tiffin won't be 24' and with 50 amp service (inflatable electrical washer / dryer combo, 3 mini roof top units, two microwaves, residential fridge that rotates on full wall slide to outdoor kitchen, all electric stove, electric heater and even the new gas free electric generator)

I built a pole building to house the Magnitude last fall / winter and I wired it myself. I used this box. It is 30A even though my coach is 50A. I don't plan on running both A/C units when it is parked so this suited my purpose.

I installed this one on the outside of my garage when I had my last coach and it has worked fine the past couple year. I still use it when I have the Magnitude parked in the drive way and getting ready for the trip. Another reason I installed the previous one in the pole building for the Magnitude is because I had the 30A to 50A adapter and was using it before it got built.

Plug Installation
Hi, Bob! I am a real novice, but this was one question I actually had experience with. Our fuse box in the utility room backs up to the wall in my carport, and it was an easy installation for the electrician. All he put in was a 30 to match my RV. I don't recall how much it was, but I am frugal so I bet it was pretty cheap!

Outside power
Having full hookup capabilities at home is great to keep your rig ready and useful year round. We also get visitors that appreciate having power available. My hookup has socket for 50, 30, and 20 amp service. Outside power has also been handy forna variety of other power needs

Make sure
I just had one installed and it’s very convienent. Just make sure to install the box with the switch in the new box, that will keep you from having to go back and forth to the breaker box when you want to plug in.
