Weld pak 100 welder too much on a RV generator?

Maybe? For emergency weld repairs out in the desert off-roading. 2013 four winds 22E, 4000 Onan in it

What is the amperage draw of the welder? AMPS X VOLTS (120) = WATTS. The amperage draw will be in the owner manual or on the ID tag of the welder.

Not sure specific what numbers to look at. Looks like a hundred or less. It would only be for emergency small repairs not any long time welding.

Your welder draws 20 amps. The Onan 4000 is rated at 3600 watts or 33.3 Amps. Should not be a problem.

NP, just don't run another heavy load at the same time. i.e. microwave, heater, A/C, etc and you should be fine.
Off topic, I see the welder has a 20% duty cycle, meaning you only do an actual weld for 20% of the time the welder is running. So 2 sec. of weld - 8 sec of non weld (10 sec total). 4 sec of weld needs 16 sec of rest. Or you could overheat the machine.

EDIT: I would also only use a #12AWG extension cord with it. 20 amps is a bit to much for #14...

Too much in one way? It's a simple 120 VAC 20 amp max welder, well within the capability of your 30 amp RV and 4000 watt generator.

Except your RV outlets are probably 15 amp.

I’m just sitting here reading this and wondering what would break to the point that I would need to weld it while on the road. I don’t think I could justify tying up the storage space and added weight to haul something around that I would very rarely have a need for. In my unit, space is at a premium.

It's for my Jeep that I'd be towing to locations off the beaten path that if I needed to fix something i could.

Maybe go the "Trail Welder" path if the Jeep is the object of concern:

Quiet a few bucks for the occasional repair.

Lincoln Weld Pak 100 is that, older version of the 140 flux core/MIG

But that weld pack at the MH doesn't do you any good when you're 10 miles out and break a hanger.

There are cheaper alternatives.

There's even a kit for welding using two 12 VDC batteries in series for $200. Includes goggles.

Good point. I actually put together a homemade kit like that that I lost some where, may have to redo it.

I have a 120 welder at home and if you check out YouTube they pull around 23 amps at full power so you might want to run a separate circuit if your going to run full power from it. 10 gauge wire and a 30 amp breaker, because you will trip a 20 amp breaker
