What do y'all know about covection microwave?

Ours, a High Pointe, wasn't working in all modes, so a new one purchased and installed, same as old one.
Plugged in and never tried it out until this camp trip weekend, it is 2 weeks new.

What happened:
Recipe called for 450 degrees for 25 minutes on convection.
Needless to say, it needed a bit more cooking, restarted for another 20 minutes.
Then it shut down, like a breaker had blown, no light, no keypad, nothing.

Had power at the outlet.
We figured it was shot.
After about half hour we plugged it back in and all is good.

Does anyone know what happened here?
I will research it once we get home Tuesday, maybe call the place i got out from too.

I don't want to ruin this weekend troubleshooting it, so i thought i would throw it on here in the meantime.
Thanks... Rusty

I have printed out the instructions on how to set the mode/temp/time and taped it to the inside cabinet door nearby for easy reference, because the High Pointe engineers apparently went to the Rube Goldberg School of User Interface. There’s a mode where you must open the door to move to the next cycle, and if you don’t do exactly what it wants, it shuts off. I’ve gotten caught in trying to extend time when food is already in there (and therefore no need to open the door) with it just shutting down. It’s not intuitive.

We’ve given up on using the High Pointe as anything other than a microwave. Every time we’ve tried to use use it as a convection oven, it’s been more trouble than it’s worth. We also keep the manual in the cabinet next to it, but it’s just not worth the effort.

I read a post somewhere that stated that Thor screwed up the placement of the venting so that it’s constantly overheating and shutting down before you can get anything cooked completely. Sounds like a real possibility to me.

I've never had a High Pointe but Forest River failed to flip the exhaust to go into the RV as they did not vent it, instead it melted the back wall. It never shut of but it didn't bake well. They replaced it & I made sure it was vented properly before I installed it. Most important! Also, worked thereafter. Love my convection ovens, less heat in the RV even invented to the outside.

We prefer convection as well. The High Point is a microwave first, convection as a secondary option. We never use microwave for anything. I wanted to replace it with a countertop convection toaster but they get rather hot. Recently Nuwave introduced a new convection/toaster/air fryer oven that's slightly larger than my Breville at home. It holds most heat in, gets a bit hot to touch but doesn't spread much heat. I removed the High Point and built in the area with a slide out. Plenty of breathing room and a small fan with a thermostat I added (normally used with outdoor electrical enclosures). Works great when I have something I can't cook on the Blackstone.

That sound intresting..... Do you have any pictures.

Sometimes I will bring my old toaster oven and use it outside.

When I tailgate at the kids college or games, I bring my small Panini grill. You can feed a lot of unsuspected guests with a few loaves of bread lunch meat cheeses tomatoes lettuce etc. amazing how this little grill turns a ho-hum sandwich into some type of gourmet meal. You're expecting five people to show up and 15 do no problem. You will also get good and creative of making a lot of other things on that little grill. They are small light weight and easy to carry.

Besides the inscrutable manual: does anyone know a place where we can get some sort of "Convection For Dummies" kind of book?

I having used a convection oven for 15 years I'm talking cooking not baking. you can cook 95% of any item on a convection oven by using the frozen pizza button. Do not wait for a preheat throw your food in there hit frozen pizza 20 minutes everything's done.

Buy the
Ge profile advantium
and replace the thing you have.
It's a
Microwave
Convection
HALOGEN
Brownies from mix to fully cooked in EIGHT MINUTES.
Halogen light cooking is an amazing thing.
Crisp, raised crust pizza, frozen to perfectly finished... 12 minutes.
