Check your tail lights

I needed to change a tail light bulb in my 2016 axis with 6000 miles. I found lens was cracked due to over-tightening of screws. There was water in unit and in hole cut in plywood body. The plywood was cut to make room for lights and left without sealer or paint. The wood started to de-laminated,and outer covering was coming loose. I had to dry it out ,heat it and force gorilla glue in openings. I will seal and drain the void when I am done. I am shopping for better units online. I also see where wall paper near windows bubbling ,I guess I,ll have to remove them to see. I also had a windshield crack without being hit. I was driving alone, and crack started behind rubber molding at bottom. seems like a week spot

Your problems with leaking water in tail lights and under drive and passenger windows is common on the Axis-Vegas. Do a search and you will find a lot of info on these areas.
Good luck on your fixes

Is there anyway to check if there is a problem without popping the seal and pulling it off?

I would say if you see "any" moisture in the lense cover its time to pull them off and reseal.

I plan on opening when I have more time this fall and reseal plus use SS screws (factory ones rust first year or so).

The "seal" is a cheap foam gasket. You are better off being proactive by removing the lights and doing something before you see moisture (even replacing the foam with something a bit more reliable).

Jaime,
What would you use to seal it up. I have no leak so far and see a secured foam gasket but want to fix before it becomes a problem.
Thanks

3M WIndow-Weld Ribbon Seal. You can get it at auto part stores.

That would work quite well.

I was thinking that you could get Some rubber gasket material (Amazon), use the old gasket as a template and cut out a new one.

My Quantum KM24 has the same taillights and both had moisture in them when delivered. Changed under warranty. Last week I noticed the drivers side tail light had water in all three lights. Drilled a small weep hole in each. Will have Thor replace them while I'm there in Nov.

They will most likely replace the gasket with the same gasket that leaks, again. I would just follow the repair suggestions others and myself have posted and be done with it.

I used butyl tape too and dumped the new foam gaskets when I replaced the stock lights with the LED units. Sealed the outside with black RV flex and used rubber o-rings with the new stainless steel screws. So far, no moisture. It was tempting to use the new foam gaskets that came with the new LED lights but I knew they were not going to keep out the moisture.

axis,
could you post the link to the LED lights? I have been on the site and wasn't sure which ones. Plug and play? This is on my list....

Thor uses the cheapest tail lights in the industry. They're not the only ones that do. There is an entire thread here dedicated to the many wonderful replacements that people have shared. You will eventually do this as well. Moisture gets into the existing light housing and they will constantly fail.
