Wiper recall - Anyone have it done yet?

Got the recall letter on the wipers from Thor today. The letter states that it should be a 10 minute procedure to inspect and possibly tighten the nuts.

Has anyone had this recall completed and what exactly are they going to do?

I hate the thought of a 180 mile round trip to have the dealer look a a couple of nuts and determine if they are tight.

I have a 2015 Tuscany and received the recall for the wipers. I could wiggle the driver's side quite a bit so decided to attack it myself. You can gain access to a allen screw thru the pop off plastic cover on the wiper shaft. Tightening the allen screw moves a wedge shaped part to more firmly hold the wiper to the shaft. I decided to position the blades to more evenly wipe the windshield while I was at it. Yep, a few minutes is all it takes.

I received the letter but will NOT be bringing it to a dealer but fixing it myself. I do not need to have it sit on a dealers lot for a week!

I have the same issue with taking it back to the dealer. I contacted Thor (Jaime Rienks - customer service), and she told me to tighten the acorn nut at the base of the wiper arm. Exact instructions were, "Tighten it to 12-14 nm of torque (approximately 8.85-10.32 ft-lbs). Repeat for other wiper arm."

She explained that some of the motor homes were not torqued properly. Since it is impossible to determine which ones they did the recall notice on all of them. I have not noticed a problem with mine and have checked since reading about it on the forums. I'm going to buy a torque wrench and tighten mine anyway...good excuse to buy a new tool.

Go to Harbour Freight for the torque wrench - inexpensive if you are only going to use it infrequently!

I thought it would be those two nuts. Mine were loose, not even finger tight, when I bought the coach so I tightened them Myers self when I re-positioned the blades on the windshield. I'll save the round trip for something worthwhile.

My nuts (wiper nuts) are rusted, Coach was delivered Dec 2015. Anybody else have this problem? I found chrome replacement nuts, will have dealer install them and torque to spec.

Our driver's side wiper failed on our maiden voyage to Alaska in 2014. We were getting the oil changed and the mechanic took care of the problem then. The cost was just over $200 that we're hoping we'll get reimbursed for.

I'd have to look at the receipt to see what was exactly done. If I recall correctly, they did replace the nuts. Also, not they intentionally did it, but we were over a barrel and needed it repaired asap and we were in Alaska. At the time $200 seemed cheap.

Looked at the receipt in more detail and we needed to have some work done on the wiper blade arm itself. That was due to the wiper arm nearly coming off when the wipers were turned on. The wiper arm ended up well past the edge of the windshield and became bent.

Thor isn't the only one with wiper problems. I was looking at our 2016 Jayco Alante about a week ago and noticed that the driver's wiper was sitting lower than the passenger one. I knew that a loose nut on the wiper arm was the most likely cause. The nut was just a little more than finger tight. It was a simple matter to tighten the nut and cure the problem.

So far the only info on mine given to me was the torque on the acron nuts. I torqued them in about 2 minutes.
I had not had any issues yet w them but it did surprise me just how loose they were. No where near tight. Lucky I hadn't lost one of the wiper arms.
This dennis.

I received the letter last week for my 2015 Windsport. However my wiper motor has already been replaced under warranty. When We took our first trip, the windshield wipers got stuck in position during a major rain storm. Had to stop under an overpass and ride the storm out. The dealer replaced the motor and drive mechanism.

Couldn't agree more with those of you not going to spend days, hours and or many miles just to find someone who tighten a few nuts and/or Allen screws. Too bad Thor made that a national nitsa type recall that will remain on our records until we get it signed off by a licensed mechanic of some sort. I did lose wiper blades on trips due to that problem the wiper arm came completely off to coach the only thing that saved it was a windchill washer hose. I've since tightened them and haven't had a problem. But I can assure you I'm not going to spend any time driving to dealers to have it set and get in line for someone to tighten a screw or 2.

Apparently, it is very common for rusted nuts on the wipers as well on the exterior bracket for the backup camera for manufacturers with poor quality control.

Where did you find the chrome nuts?
