2016 Axis - need advice

We are new to all this and need advise. We reserved a camp spot that has a 50 amp hookup. Our rv is a 30 amp. Do we just need an adapter for our shore cord or do we also need a 50 amp surge protector? We have one for 30 amp.

Use the adapter to the bring the fifty amp down to thirty amp, than plug in your surge protector than lug in the unit

Buy all adapters in every direction.
I think all of them will cost you less than 59 bucks total.
But
The chances of a camp site with a 50amp designation having only a 50amp and not a 30 and a standard 15 amp are
Zero out of the hundred or so sites we've stayed at.
It would be nonsensical for a site to be 50 amp only as it severely limits the camp sites ability to earn money.

Typically all the older RV parks with hookups have a minimum of a 30amp plug, it's about 50/50 odds that it will also have a 50amp plug, most of the newer, or upgraded, parks will have 20/30/50 amp pedestals.
Simply put with a 30 amp RV you shouldn't need an adapter, but having a 50 to 30 dogbone adapter would be a wise choice to carry just in case.
