When I'm carrying all of that crap out to the rig: it weighs at least five tons...
...And when I'm unloading the rig after the trip: it's even heavier!

Truthfully: I've never tried to weigh it all.

One of the reasons we have traded motor homes about every 5 years is so I can get rid of a lot of crap.

I am curious, why would you ask someone else how much stuff they carry? I always determine what we need for the trip and then let the available capacity and actual weight determine what can and can not go.

Dave,
So THAT'S what you've been doing with the dirty laundry!!
Tell the truth: where are you hiding it?

We’ve only had ours a month and only spent 2 nights in it. But every time Jamie talks about putting something in it I worry about weight. We haven’t weighed it yet. If I see a weigh station on our trip to FL next week I will stop.

Generally, how close to the max weight are RVs? I read a post the other day and if I recall correctly, the post said that their RV, empty, was about 1000 lbs below max (I could be mistaken). To me, that’s not a lot of leeway. Hell, Ms. WT and I weigh almost 400 together. Add tools and other necessities and you’re up there.

Am I needlessly worried?

Actually with dirty laundry, when we are loading the coach we will load some of the oldest clothes we have and then quite often they get thrown away after being worn. Helps to clean at the closet at the sticks and bricks. The first time I did that the DW thought I was nuts but then she hopped on the train.

I will say that that only works a couple of times until all them old stuff is gone. Trying that with newer clothes can get expensive fast.

There should be a yellow label that has your OCCC (Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity). That should be the gauge of how much weight you can load in to include occupants. Most times the label is on the screen door on a class a and the driver's door jamb on a class c. When they first look at the label folks may be surprised at how little OCCC they actually have. Unfortunately that is not always a concern when folks are looking for an RV.

As a note, on my current rig the OCCC is about 2.5 times higher than the Challenger or my prior class c.

But it DOES give them another excuse to shop for more clothes...
We sort of do the same thing; but most of my clothes are already set for the trash heap anyway!

I’ve been thinking about doing this. I travel periodically and have to take carry on, no checked bags. So I think “I’ll just take old crap and leave it down there.” But I always bring it back...

It's fun to stop in a Post Office, and mail the laundry home...
When they ask you if you're shipping anything "hazardous"; you get to ask them if dirty laundry counts!

That is where I actually started doing it was with business travel.

Best time I ever had was going through customs after returning from a 8 day, 7 night cruise and the customs agents asking "what, no clothes?"

I will not do it again if I ever have to go back to Israel. Their customs and security folks don't mess around and they don't have any sense of humor.

Running out of clothes with the wife in a motorhome could be fun!! Just make sure you strategically time it to hit one of these places at the right moment.

I’m looking for a weight. I already know what I want to take. Just curious what WEIGHT they carry. I already did the math. But want others opinions.
Specifically for the axis 24.1 E 450.

Does the OCCC include a full tank of gas? Or is that extra?

Got a reply: Called Thor.
Gas is included in the OCCC. So, my actual weight limit for stuff including me and my wife, water, etc is 3193lbs
That’s plenty of stuff!!!

But don't it to your Lovely Bride...
She'll have you carrying stuff out to the rig; that you didn't even know you owned!
