Covered Storage and Solar

Likely changing the storage location to a new location with covered parking...see photo.

Benefits are more secure and protected from the elements.

Only issue I see is the solar charger 100w will not be getting a daily intake of the Florida sun.

Does anyone see any issues with this and keeping the 2 house batteries charged?Click image for larger version

It looks like you will get some sun on the end of your unit. I too have a 100 W panel on my Axis but here in Ct where I store my unit outside, snow can cover up the panel for a month or more.

So I got a 50 watt panel (less than $75 from Amazon) and mounted it with duct tape to the south facing back bumper of my Axis. I then wired it in parallel with my rooftop panel to the existing GoPower controller. The almost vertical angle of the 50 watt panel keeps the snow off and keeps both coach and chassis batteries fully charged throughout the winter.

You could do the same thing with a panel mounted temporarily on the end or front of your Ace. The only downside is having to remove it every time you use it. If there is room, a permanently mounted and wired panel should solve that problem.

In Florida a vertical south facing panel won’t put out nearly as much as a horizontal one, but probably enough to keep up with battery losses.

We have cover storage and use a portable solar panel to keep the batteries charged.

All you need is a trickle charge to keep them topped. Before doing anything I'd see if you get anything at all from your shaded panel. Very bright reflected sun MIGHT be enough, depending on how bright the sun is and how efficient your panel is. Worth a shot... but then you'll know.

My panel appears to get some sun as the sun sets in west. Starts mid afternoon. So far that seems to be holding up.Click image for larger version

Solar charges house batteries while under cover

Our Synergy is in covered parking just like yours is with afternoon sun. We are in AZ. The back of the RV is just under the cover so the sun gets to the panel. The batteries are staying charged. You should be okay.
