ACE 30.1 opinions?

Hello all! I am going to look at a 2013 ACE 30.1 in the next couple days, and am wondering if there is anything specific to this model I should look out for? I'm not new to campers in general, as I've had a travel trailer for the past 5 years, and I grew up in different class C motorhomes that my parents had. Just wondering if the ACE models have any known problem areas I should be wary of. Thanks!

Like any used RV, check for signs of windows leaking, signs of water intrusion, etc. Do appliances all work? All the things you’d look for when buying a used car. But most importantly, is the floor plan suitable for your style of travel/camping? Good luck and happy travels.

When I purchased my used RV, I really wish I had gone up on the roof and inspected it. I would have still made the purchase, but I would not have been surprised when, on the first night, one of the skylight vents leaked.

Welcome to the forum. Make sure all of the systems are in working order. Check the tires and look at what year they were produced. They may have tread but may be 7 years old and ready to blow out. Check all of the batteries(coach and engine). Look for any water marks which indicate water leaking. Good luck.

All good advice here. There's no known ACE or ACE 30.1 specific things to check for, just general MH RV things as you have been advised about.

Thanks all! I know the coach has all new tires, with less than 10 miles on them, it has also always been kept under roof...I assume a carport, and comes with a cover, which is nice.

I have one, 35,000 miles. No issues with Ford driveline, lots of folks improving suspension, steering etc. As others noted, typical RV issues to watch for. Specific to the model, we don't seem to able to fill the fresh water to capacity. Over 2/3 and we get water from bedroom by the shower until we run level down. Also on the slide switches, don't stay on the Extend too long. Big one motors 'amp out' differently and can end up crooked. May take a couple of tries to get it back in evenly. Swivelling drivers seat can be challenge but you can when parked, but your feet won't touch the floor. LOL. Enjoy!

First thing my wife did was by an ottoman. I thought she was insane.
Wish she bought two.

So where will you take it for the shakedown cruise?

I had a 2013 Thor 30.1. I had several problems that you might run into. I had an overhead bed that would come down just fine but had a lot of trouble getting it to go all the way back up. They use magnets to hold the bed up when when driving. The magnets were not strong enough to hold the bed in place. I had it adjusted several times. I finally made an appointment at Thor in Indiana and they added several more very strong magnets and that fixed it. I also had a lot of trouble with drawers, they were always coming apart after a long drive.
I agree with the one person that said the Ford chassis was just fine. I never had a Ford problem. I think I had a lemon, so I traded it in for a Itasca diesel pusher. Had the Itasca two years and no problems.

Unsure as of yet, although it was a 4 hr drive home from where we bought it. I'll consider that a mini shakedown, since it was my first time driving anything this large other that Uhauls.

Also, your name looks familiar. Are/were you a regular over @ Spyderlovers.com?
