ACE 30.2 towing Wrangler Unlimited

Seriously considering a Wrangler Unlimited as a toad. Does anyone out there have any practical experience regarding this? Can the 30.2 handle this vehicle?
Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum!

Your coach should have no problem towing a Wrangler. You can find several discussions about Wranglers and other tow cars by using the Search tab on the above toolbar. As we travel, we see a lot of Wranglers being towed.

We have a 2015 29.3 and tow a 2015 Wrangler Unlimited.

Biased opinion, it's a great package. Wranglers are perfect to tow. Just follow owners manual for set up. I made a laminated sheet/checklist that stays in seatback pocket.

Easy/quick to hook up.

We have:
Blue Ox Alpha (6500lb) towbar and base plate.
Blue Ox Tail light wiring kit
RVi2 Braking system

Very happy!

Local truck accessory shop did the tow bar and light kit install. Only install issue was with the light kit. They do drill and install a third/independent bulb for brake lights. The new bulb goes between the two OEM bulbs. One was installed just a hair too close to other bulbs and blew new bulb. Modification complete and no issues since. I do see a newer/smaller LED kit available from Blue Ox.

I've got a 2017 Challenger and a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited. Our first major trip with the toad was Texas to Michigan and back. Everything performed very well on the trip. I went with a Roadmaster tow bar and baseplate. I installed the baseplate myself and also did the install on the tail / brake light harness. I had a trailer shop install an Invisibrake system.

This is the first year I've towed a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and I couldn't be happier with it. Highly recommend.

I went with the Blue Ox baseplate
and Blue OX Avail tow bar with Blue OX Patriot braking.
the brake wiring was 2007-2014 Jeep Wrangler Mopar Tow Vehicle Wiring Harness - 82211156AB

I did all the installation myself and my only question was answered promptly by a great guy at Blue OX. Otherwise all the instructions and advise can be found on forums like this or YouTube.

I towed a 2012 Jeep Wrangler behind a 2013 ACE 29.2. I used Blue OX baseplate, towbar and brake. No problems at all.

2016 ACE 30.2 towing a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Hard Rock. Road master tow bar, base plate, lighting system and invisibrake. Towed it 6000 miles to Alaska and back this summer. No problems. It's a great toad and really easy to hook up with this set up.

2017 ACE 30.2 using a tow dolly. Easy to connect to rig and no problem loading toad. Hauling a 2017 Nissan Versa. Hardly know it's back there. The Versa is a great toad. Very small but tons of inside room.

Question: Do you find that the dolly gets in the way while you're set up for camping?

We also tow using a dolly. It is not an issue when camping as it fits mostly under the rear of the motorhome when parked.

We chose a dolly based on the vehicles being towed - they couldn't be towed 4 down. We used to tow a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 down behind our previous motorhome and both methods have their pros and cons.

Generally towing 4 down is more expensive (tow bar, baseplate, lighting, braking, etc.) but easier to work with. Towing via dolly is simpler in cost but can be more time consuming both setting up and breaking down. Yes, dollies support towing many different vehicles but they have to be stored and can be heavy or difficult to move around.

It is a matter of preference and requirements. Neither option is bad.

Nope. Unhook the toad and slide the dolly under MH. The dolly is really painless and doesn't limit me to most vehicles. I have an AWD Rogue that I can't tow but the Versa Note has worked out perfectly for us.

Thanks for the info!
I had never given much thought to where all of the "stuff" gets hidden!

Because the original question was about towing a Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep owners manual states that that vehicle must be towed 4 wheels down or totally on a trailer. Front wheel dolly towing a Jeep will cost you and void the warranty. The 4 wheel drive feature can't support 2 up dolly towing.

We have a 29.3 and tow a wrangler unlimited with no problems. We did invest in a tire monitor for the coach and the wrangler.
