F53 V8 flashing Check Engine Light

Well this isn’t going well with the new 7.3 Godzilla motor🙄. I was going up a grade, pulling a trailer about five months ago when the check engine light came on started flashing and the RV started shaking really bad. I took it to the Ford dealership who had it for three weeks determined it was a cylinder misfire that burned out the plug and a plug wire on cylinder three. Fast forward to this weekend 228 miles later exact same problem happens but it’s on cylinder seven. when I dropped it off the first time and they told me what was going on with it. I asked if we could replace them all and they said Ford would only cover the one that’s bad that they had fixed the issue, here we are again with the same problem. Reliability is becoming a concern for me. It’s not like I just drive this thing around town.

You might consider buying a complete set of plug wires and just replace all of them yourself. I had the same misfire and Ford also just replaced the one bad wire.

Ummmm, did you have the recall done to replace all your plug wires on the 7.3 V8?

When I came across the bulletin, I purchased 8 of the NEW spark plug wires (Different Part Number, as advised on the bulletin). That check engine light happened while we we travelling going to OH. Going uphill, then CEL started flashing. I found a mobile mechanic. Had him replace ALL wires right there and then. Never had any problem since. I purchased my own replacement wires.

Yeah, I have a 2022 that supposedly had the upgraded wires but I’m leaning towards no! Lol

I’ve been researching that exact thing, replacing all of them myself Ador. Did you use a factory part? Aftermarket part? I’m taking it in tomorrow with the expectation that they replace them all along with the plugs. When #3 went out it torched the plug too. This was the info they gave me when it went bad the first time:

Good morning, vehicle is done and ready for pick up.
I do apologize, earlier I had given you the wrong information, we only replaced the #3-cylinder spark plug and wire asy. Your vehicle does not fall under the technical service bulletin that states to replace all. Ford only allowing us to replace the one that failed under warranty. These are the part # LC3Z-12286-C and CYFS12YT6. Sorry about the mis-information. Thank you.

When I went to FORD to purchase the 8 replacement spark plug wires, the service advisor ask for my VIN. When he came back, he gave me the SAME part number as the problematic one (based on my VIN). I insisted that he order me 8 of the Part Number that is indicated on the bulletin (the one ending in 12286-C). Otherwise, I will be replacing them with the SAME batch parts as the problematic one. It was my understanding that FORD will only replace the ones that FAILED. I call that bullshit. It is bound to happen. Why not replace all at the same time?

I was glad I came across someone else’s post about this issue purchased the NEW parts. I was on day 3 of our trip somewhere in TN when I had the problem. I had a mobile mechanic replace all 8 in a parking lot. (I wish I had them replaced before the trip. Oh well).

Yeah, bullshit was one of the many words I used when it came on again. I was 60 miles from home, going up and down a big grade pulling a trailer when it came on. The power dropped dramatically and was only able to go about 20-25mph. I was not going to wait to get towed, I pulled the code driving and said screw it I'm getting home, if it goes it’s on them 😐
