Overhead bed drop solutions

The overhead bed in my Windsport 29M will not stay up. Bouncing down the interstates it always slips down a few inches even with the pins in. It vibrates so much that the pin holes elongate making it worse. Read somewhere that Thor recommends dropping it onto the pins so that it doesn't move but that creates a lot of noise and the controller starts throwing error codes because it gets out of sync. Then it becomes a pain trying to get it back in sync.

Thought that if I could find a way to anchor a nut plate where the pin mounts I could bolt it down. I haven't been able to find a suitable nut plate. Also considered some 2 x 4 braces that I could wedge in under the bed to hold it up.

What have others done?

We have the same issue on our 34j. Took the rv in for a slide repair and an Thor rep was at the shop. I explained that the bed drops on the passenger side so when we park I need to override the controller, press up on the switch, turn override off then I can lower the bed.

He said the bed lowering while driving can happen and to continue the same steps. I did not like the answer but technically it is not broken so my warranty company will not "repair".

I have not tried lowering the bed onto the pins but I am interested in hearing other solutions.

I just let the bed drop down onto the pins in my 29M, I figured that's why there are safety pins. We don't use the bed, so it doesn't matter that much to me.

In my Axis, the pins are tight to get in when the bed is raised all the way up. So the bed drops a quarter of an inch onto the pins and I have to push the up button for a second to take them out. Maybe a solution would be to drill a new little higher pin hole on the passenger side.

I let the bed rest on the pins. Sometimes it's not the quietest thing in the world. A little grease helps. But the bed does not drop when resting on the pins.

Ditto.

I always use the pins when in the up position. No rattles and squeaks resting on the pins in my rig.

Mine rattles a lot when resting on the pins. For mine not to rattle I have to raise it up as far as it will go. It will come down on it's own after a couple days of travel and start rattling again. I then have to remove the pins lower it all the way then raise it all the way to stop the rattle. I am going to try some hard rubber shims and see if that can keep it from coming down.
