Automatic Shade

In the front of my Vegas 24.1 is my automatic shade. I was wondering on the top left of the shade is a black wire with a push button on the end. Any idea what this is used for?

I believe that is the limit switch for the shade (e.g. it stops it at the end of travel all the way up).

Jamie's right. It's the "learning button" to adjust how far the shade lowers -- both when the ignition switch is on (driving sun visor) and off (camping privacy shade. I found a pdf file that describes how to use this switch and adjust the distance, but I can tell ypu8 the description makes the procedure sound like a Royal PITA. If you don't HAVE to adjust it, I wouldn't touch it. I just kind of folded my wire up in the end so it couldn't be seen.

Thanks. This was very helpful. I am trying to set the top height to go all the way up. I have 3 inches that it will not go past.

As a suggestion, I would not set it to go all the way up, that would be like a hard limit, not good. Could you deal with maybe an inch down that would leave you a safety margin for the times it wants to float by the soft limit, like during really hot days.

I keep mine so that the shade is down about 8 to 10 inches. It acts as a sun visor.

Sun Shade Axis

It has been some time since there was discussion regarding the Sun Shade.
So, I have an amusing tale to tell.
Ron takes the Axis to get gas...comes home and is fiddling around inside with the motor running...so front a/c is running...keeping him cooool.
He hits the Sun Shade button 'down' and it only drops about 10" ...
ponders the situation abit...and figures out..one cannot extend the Shade completely down while the motor is running !! Ha !!!
Nice safety feature for sure !

LOVE THIS 2016 AXIS !!

Yea -- driving with a movie screen over the windshield would be quite an adventure.

Kay -- I may be wrong but I think the little memory button on the wire is inhibited when the engine is running. I thought the instructions explained how to use it to adjust the stops when the engine wasn't running. I jammed that little sucker up in a blank space at the corner of the shade so it doesn't hang down or even can be seen. Don't want any inquisitive fingers messing with it just for craps and grins.

That big sun visor is sooooo handy! Not sure if I've ever hit the safety stop but sure tickles me to lower it when driving into the sun and its been down pretty far for some sunrise travels! Never had a need to use that dangling button ... I did however push it several times when we first got the rig and when nothing happened I searched for what it might be Fingers crossed for another trouble free year of travel with the Axis...

Ed n Ty... we did exactly what you did...Ron prefers to have the shade down about 5-10 inches when driving as a sun visor .. That little black wire serves no purpose for us !

I downloaded the manual for my shade (United Shade) and the little button is the programming button. It's just used to set the heights when the engine is running and not. Seems like they could have done something a bit slicker than the dangling mystery button.

Unfortunately the manual did not help me fix my shade - probably the motor.

No but I can roll it manually for sun. So far thats the only problem with the rig, so I am not complaining. Been waiting to see if anything else fails before I bring it in for service.

When ever the sun gets to bright for my eyes I lower the front one down about half way where the stop is at and then pull the two side ones down about the same. Just a little bit darker inside and much easier on my eyes...

Where do I buy another one of the buttons? My shade wasn't working this morning so I called Thor and they told me that was a fuse. I was told to pull the black cap off and the fuse was inside. Obviously when I pulled it off there was no fuse and now the button is broken. I am so upset!,
