The wife and I work a lot so our time is precious to us. For a longer trip, 500-600 miles a day for us. I guess when I retire and aren't stuck with 2 weeks of vacation a year, I'll shorten our miles driven in a day.

I have did 600 miles a couple times (10.5 Hours of interstate travel) but definitely two - three days rest before a returning to the wheel. 250 -300 is more the normal and big cities will cut that as I may lay back waiting for a low traffic pattern time of day.

I try to limit to 600 miles in a day. We are not yet retired, so getting to and enjoy our destination is important to us.

I used to have that mindset too. But since we both retired we find the journey to be the best part of most trips. So we don’t hurry.

I think you'll find the retired vs still working is the deciding factor in how many miles per day. I can certainly understand when you're still working you have limited time off so you have to make every day count towards your destination.
That being said, I'm glad I'm retired.

How long to drive in a day? That's a loaded question.
Elderly or young...kids or pets...leave early or late.
All this will make a difference.
We like to keep it to 7 hours or one tank of gas.
and Yes.... do enjoy the journey.

Yep. Did 6pm to 345am last night with two sleeping kids. Tampa to South Carolina. 1.5 hours tomorrow.

Yeah, get to the campgrounds before dark. Makes it easy to setup and get ready for Supper.

Yeah, motorcycle seats... Had one of those that you couldn't move back too far cause it was only for riding around town. Found a piece of semi hard foam, cut it to size, covered it in tape then taped it in place on the seat for long trips. Then I taped a map covered with lamination to the gas tank and since 150 miles per tank went too quick, got a plastic oil bottle and filled it with gas. There I was, living my 2nd childhood on the East Coast. My 3rd was on the West Coast.

Sometimes I like to listen to old radio programs. Johnny Dollar, Dragnet, Gunsmoke and such.

Also helps that we figured out where to place the SiriusXM antenna so it works all the time no matter which direction you are headed. Scenery and sounds...

200-300 miles, but its getting less as we go on. I'm becoming a big fan of the the 230 club that I've seen cited on a few forums. 230 miles or in camp and set up by 2:30, whichever comes first. I'm also becoming more in favor of a schedule of 2 days of driving, then stopping for 2 nights. Roadside America app is a great source to find obscure and sometimes dumb local attractions that you'd otherwise just blow past.
We made a trip from Colorado to Northern California and back shortly after we got our ACE. This was before I made several suspension improvements so driving in the wind wasn't a lot of fun. We did about 300 miles a day, with one day from Winnemucca NV to Salt Lake running about 400 miles. Most days were OK, but the Salt Lake leg was too much. Should have stopped in Wendover as all we did in Salt Lake was pull in become vegetables for the night. Too tired to even make an In-n-Out run.

What 200-300 miles a day? You might as well stay home. if you are traveling to get to a destination then goal should be at least 500-600 miles a day. We travel with 2 dogs and stop several times a day and still accomplish this. Once you get to the destination, then their is no set amount of miles. Focus is the on enjoying where you are.

We are planning on a trip to Yosemite next spring. Curious as to recommendations for campgrounds coming into the East side of the park. We are 42 feet long so need to stay out of the park. Thanks
BTW we travel 200-300 max when at all possible
