Axis bumper blister

Sigh; just noticed this on the lower front bumper next to the fog lights (you can see the fog light at left):

Not sure if its a blister that broke because the bumper behind it rusted or it is the result of a "flying object" during our last 2400 mile trip in December (I'm leaning towards flying object damage).

Could be a flying object. It could be "spider web" cracking, but spider web is usually more of a micro crack. Yours is fairly large, which might be from an impact.

The bottom half (less severe looking) is more reminiscent of spider web, but the top half looks more like impact.

Spider web cracking in fiberglass (boats) is fairly common, and usually the result of inadequate support to keep the fiberglass from flexing and vibrating. I would assume RVs are no different in that regard.

Since this is a Thor, anything is possible.

Finally getting around to getting this fixed. Talked to the guys that will do the repair today. They want to hide the repair under some dark paint because the blister is in the inset for the fog lights which makes it hard to work around. So what they want to do is extend the dark stripe that starts at the front wheel around the front bumper covering the tear-drop shape of the inset.
I made a crappy drawing of what they want to do: (They will do both sides, my drawing only illustrates the one side.)

I'll have a unique Axis on the road with its (albeit minor) custom paint job! LOL

Not sure if they will do this now before I cover it for the winter or in the spring after I've uncovered it--waiting on a phone call to find that out. Update: Looks like they will be working on it within the week.

In any case I'll post pics once its done.

No real names; closest thing to a name is "The Big Box" what our son used to call our 5th wheel when he was really little (he is in High School now so that doesn't fly anymore LOL).

Update: They called this morning "The bumper is fixed but we have a few ideas we'd like to show you on different painting options" (since I happened to be home) "great I'll be right over"

So new plan: They are only going to paint the little inset where the fog lights are, here is another crappy illustration:

Presumably they will have a steadier hand than I did with the paint program LOL.

The shape of the inset pretty much matches the teardrop shape of the headlights (and the paint will still match the dark brown color on the side).

ok all done and painted:

I'm happy with it.

So now we're unique going down the road as far as Axis units go...
