2021 24.1 - Paper Towel Holder

Don't have our coach yet (hopefully two weeks) Inspection is Monday. We are newbie's, so sorry for dumb question. I am not confident I totally understand inner wall construction, but I am pretty handy. My wife want to install various wall "fixtures" one for towels in bath, a paper towel holder in Kitchen etc. I am thinking the walls are something like Luan at best - am I wrong, anyway how do the seasoned RVr's hang items that could have pulling forces such as paper towels or don't you TIA

Red face

We use a holder that fits over the cabinet door over the sink on our Vegas. Used the same one on our prior Class A. It doesn't affect the closing of the door, doesn't unroll and is out of the way. Plus it is far from the gas stove burners. Several online vendors have them for about $10.

We took a chance, and screwed our paper towel holder into a thin block of wood we got in behind the wall.
And welcome to the forum too!

Welcome to the forum. There are many ways to hang towels and hold a paper towel holder. If you google them, you will have many choices(you are corret about the thin walls).

Contact Thor and ask for the construction drawings for your coach. Those drawings will show you how the walls are made and should tell you the material used.

If you already have the VIN go to the Thor owner resource page, register and download the drawings.

Welcome to the forum.

The kitchen window and valance are slightly more in width than standard roll of paper towels. I screwed a screw into each end of the valance. Used a bungee cord cut to size and threaded it thru the roll of towels and hooked them to the aforementioned screws.

Towels are up out of the way (saves on valuable counter space) and can easily remove towels for use elsewher. If there is a downside it is having to "hand roll" towels as the bungee cord keeps towels firm against valance but the upside is the towels don't unroll going down the road

This is what we use, with no issues. I didn't want to drill and holes, although that wouldn't really be an issue. Just a suggestion that will work.

Don't know if this would work for you, but how about using some spring rods? Easy to install, reposition, and cheap. Surely you can find an alternate use if the idea doesn't fly...

I printed one of these, but I have a good place to mount it.

If you like frogs, this might work and doesn't require mounting.

They are a lot of nice paper towel holders that set on the counter, nice because you can move them. put them on the table or out side. we throw it on on the bed we travel.

The only problem with that kind of holder: they tend to slide off the counter-top when you're driving...

These are weighted and have resistance so you can tear off towels with one hand. Used them for years. I have them on the boat and 3 in motorhome (1 inside and 2 outside in bays). The one inside rides on the counter and has never moved. Also great to set outside as the wind won't blow them around. These are at Costco but are available elsewhere. Click image for larger version

Bob, that why I said we put it on the bed when we travel along with the melon and other things that go splat.

We use Quakehold 22111 on all the “stuff” that sits on the counter. It stays in place yet you can remove the item and even reuse the product. We have used it for years. Never had anything slide off the counter. It is sometimes called museum gel because they use it to keep items on glass display shelves.

I try not to drill holes on the walls of my Vegas. Instead, I use 3m double sided tape or Velcro to attach accessories/pictures/signs to the walls. For the paper towel holder, I purchased this one:one.

So far, it has worked out perfectly. I’ll try to post a pic of it installed soon.

we have a holder in bathroom attached to the bottom shelf of the medicine cabinet which is wood. Use Viva cloth towels there, and keep hand sanitizer there when on the road. The kitchen holder is also attached to a cabinet hanging above the sink. Very handy place.

Happy Trails,
Diane V

Different strokes... Our Vegas has very little counter space, so that is why we hang the paper towels above the sink in front of the cabinet door. Available at Bed Bath Beond for about $10. No screws or adhesive. The one we use is pictured on the left.
