There is a Tractor Supply store fairly near you. They usually have hose fill propane. But call and ask, not all do. Ferrellgas is also nearby.

Also Google propane fill stations in google maps. That gives a number of swap out stations but some are hose fill.

Most truck stops offer propane for sale.

I have a COSTCO near me that sells propane.
One of the few in the country
Paid $2.49 yesterday, which is $1-1.50 less than all others I called.

I just had my house and RV tanks filled. 257.8 gallons at 1.949 per gallon.

Whenever my propane service tops off the house tank they also fill my RV if it is in the driveway. Today the RV was sitting at 1/4 tank before the fill.

All I hear on the news is how the price of propane has increased.
You just paid $.50 less per gallon than the lowest price in California.

Most propane companies in CA are at $2.49-2.99, which is normal for this time of year.

So I’m not sure who to believe

My previous propane truck driver would fill my MH propane tank. He recently quit and went with another company after 20 or so years of service.
The new driver topped my two house tanks off a couple weeks ago. I asked him to top off my MH tank. He told me the propane company wouldn't allow it and I'd need to drive the MH to their business.
I don't remember what the reason for not allowing him to top off the MH tank.

Can the MH tank be filled without running the hose under the coach? I know that is a definite no go for most propane filling stations.

High-jack thread

I hate to high-jack a thread, but this seems like a fair question to ask...

Does anyone use a phone based app to find propane while on the road?
I use "GasBuddy" for gas stations, but I have yet to find an equivalent for propane.

There may be an app, but truck stops sell it.
If you drive across town to save a buck a gallon, you saved 10 bucks and wasted an hour and 7 bucks of fuel.

Propane is an
As needed, where found, won't go out of my way
Item for us.

To me it's like shopping potato chip prices.
Sure I can save a dollar at walmart vs Fry's.
I don't unless I happen to be in Wal-Mart.

I think we paid $2.24 when we prepaid 1,000 gallons of propane. I thinks it's $2.74 delivered now.
They fill my 20lb tanks for me if I set them out.

I have an odd attitude about home propane.
I'm buying it no matter what the price.

Our break even electric vs propane is $3pg+- propane.

I understand your logic. I typically don't go out of my way to buy gas. I do want to know what is available, what cost, easy on and off, on my way.

I was going to Yosemite and knew it would be cold. Why not get it on the road where it will be cheaper than Orange County CA.

Got gas at costco in Bakersfield (screaming deal) across the street from the RV park we stayed at. They had propane too. Also, a screaming deal. However, Propane was not available till the tire shop opened at 10:00 am. DW said NFW to waiting for 45 minutes to open.

So I went to a flying J on the way that I knew had propane. However, their fill was on the wrong side, no way to back into the spot. They told me I was SOL. There was 15 minutes wasted getting off the road and back on for nothing (remember I already got my gas at Costco - much cheaper) Thank you DW!

I prefer to know my options before I head down the planned route. I am not going out of my way, just picking the best option on a couple hundred mile trip.

That's reasonable.
The truck stop apps tell if they have propane and usually list the cost.
Love's. And flying j have an app. So do most others.
I'm kinda sure, but not quite sure that iExit also sorts for propane.

Koa has an app.
It also tells about propane(or used to)
