Relush -- It sounds like the motors are out of time. The Lipppert-Schwintech uses two synchronous motors to lift and lower both sides. Somestimes they get out of "synch" and have to be retimed. Here is a link to a Lippert YouTube explaining how to retime the motors. Although the video is for a slide out - the procedure is the same for the bunk because it uses the same system. You are just going up and down instead of in and out.

The way to keep the motors in sync is to NEVER move the slide or the bunk part way. The video goes on to say when using the system, after it fully extends continue to hold the switch for 2 or 3 seconds after the motors stop to ensure they stay in time. Same when retracting the slide. On the bunk especially -- to put it down fully you have to reposition the Captain's chairs and tilt them back otherwise the bunk hits the top of the chair. I know when demonstrating to others how the bunk works I almost never tipped the chair backs and only lowered the bunk part way so they could see what the bunk was like. DON'T DO THAT. Be sure to always lower the bunk fully to ensure the motors do not get out of sync.

Great help and advice!! I watched the video and was able to run the bunk up and down three times holding the switch 3 seconds at each end of cycle and it seems to have corrected my bunk lowering problem. Thanks so much Ed!!

Happy New Year! I tried to private message you but I was not able to do that as a new member. I would really appreciate a copy of your manual / checklist. I am so impressed that you did that. All new for us. We are so excited but a little intimidated.

Thanks,

Just to update anyone interested -- I've forwarded 162 copies of the manual. Many of those are newbies buying their first RV and first Thor product.

When I compiled the manual -- I had intended it to be a learning tool for those new to RVs, RV systems, and the Thor Axis/Vegas specifically. Feed back thus far has been positive with many saying they were able to learn quite a bit about the systems.

I'm glad it has had the desired effect.

Ed,

I have used mine on a weekly basis since I got my copy!

I still have not figured how to (easily) snake a HDMI cable back to the bedroom TV from the cabinet over the kitchen sink. If I do I'll let you know.

Doc

Your best bet is probably to go up into the ceiling and run the cable in the A/C ducts. You already know there is a channel that goes from the front to the rear (they are just channels in the Styrofoam anyway).

Or you could always just go wireless:
Amazon.com: wireless hdmi transmitter

Jamie,

I believe I will make the trek via the AC ducts.

I prefer a hardwire to the computer set-up in the RV (already linked to the outside and front TVs to the computer with a HDMI splitter, a wireless keyboard for input, a Blu-Ray DVD Writer External Drive for the computer all tied together thru a WiFi Router for other "toys").

I did get around to getting a sparetire and a mount that uses the trailer hitch. Once I get a cover I'll post that "mod" on the site.

Doc

I just picked up my 2016 Vegas 24.1 Wednesday, and I'd like to use my first post as an opportunity to publicly thank Mr. Felker for the outstanding work on the manual. Extremely useful.

I try to get an email to any newbie still in the shopping stage. I spent a lot of time developing the PDI checklist. I researched extensively looking for defects that new owners reported finding during PDI. I incorporated all that I could find into the checklist -- especially the repeat offenders.

I know that the dealer preps before the buyer arrives vary from dealer to dealer. Some PDIs are a beta test where the dealer expects the owner to discover all the things missed by the factory. My dealer prep was exceptional (they had removed all the drawers and vacuumed up all the construction trash as well as the debris under the passenger side bed). I tried to build the PDI checklist so that a new owner finds ALL the faults and discrepancies so that a final inspection punch list can be built without repeated trips back to the dealer.

If you are in the market for a new RV, send me an email early so that I can get the manual to you so that you have the PDI checklist (email is bevedfelker@live.com).
