I was thinking about flat towing my RAM. Drive that through the mountains any?

No sir! East coast mostly. Few 6-7% grades, but nothing really high altitude. She pulls hills just like any other...it's the altitude that will Rob a gasser.

Unless you do it all the time you’ll be fine even in the Rockies. I’ve had my 33ft Class A up to 12,000 feet several times. There’s some serious grades involved and while you’ll be in the truck lane on some of them your machine will be a happy traveling partner throughput.

I appreciate the feedback. Diesel guys keep giving horror stories about why they upgraded and the troubles I will have heading out west. I want to do it all, but I'm still working so time is the issue.

I have a 6k Demco Commander Tow Bar that I no longer need. Maybe I should list it on the forum. I used it for a year, but with the golf cart I was so close to my Max that I felt a need to upgrade to the next size up.

My first RV was a Jayco Octane and a 2500 Duramax. When I downsized my truck for the RV upgrade, I'm so glad I chose a flat toweable truck. I didn't want to have to store a trailer all the time. I'm sure one can get use to any setup, but while planning this out the GMC Canyon seemed like the best option for me.

We flat town our Chevy Equinox behind the 34J here on the West Coast. I've been over multiple mountain passes and like Pete says you'll be fine. You may be in the truck lane for some of the steeper stuff but for the most part I've never felt like I couldn't keep up.

We're going to be putting our Toad up on a trailer...
It gives us the option of taking taking the golf cart along; if the Toad isn't necessary.

It is nice to use a trailer if we are going long distances. Our CRV limits us to stay under 65 MPH when flat towing. That being said, the trailer oes add a lot of steps and sometimes limits us to where we can park.
This year we are going to several shows and trying to play in between so Dennis built a trailer that allows him to bring a toy along.

My 2013 Challenger, with no mods, plowed right up Siskiyou Pass in NorCal/SoOR with no issues, passing semis with ease. Now, heading downhill northbound into Oregon was terrifying but we survived. I tow an MKX which is relatively heavy, wish I had capacity to tow my Expedition.

Since the last time we talked, if there was I68 heading from Cumberland MD to Kentucky has some 7% and 8% grades. If that counts, she did fine. It's no anything high altitude though. She does as good as any other at this elevation. Still haven't been out west though.

It's game changing! Go flat and it will lighten your load!
