Bathroom Fan??

I am wanting to replace the cheap bath fan in my Axis. What is a good fan to replace it with? Also any tips for removing the caulk would be greatly appreciated. I removed the one in the bedroom to install a second AC and it was a job to remove all that caulk.

Removing the caulk is just never going to be the easiest job...

Elbow grease and a large dose of patience; just seem to work the best.
Dometic's Fan-Tastic vents and ceiling fans seem pretty nice.

My vote would be for a Fantastic Fan. I've now installed 4 of them in various RV's over the years (latest is the front vent on the Axis).

Removing the caulk is a tough job. I usually just use my hands and peel it off--this takes the bulk of the time for the installation. I would recommend against using any sort of tool as you may damage the roof.

I think that when I was changing the tank vents on the roof of our Outlaw: I started with a plastic scraper; but quickly got scared, and changed over to my paws...

Just get a Vortex fan. Goes right in where the existing excuse for a fan resides. No caulk removal. All done from the inside. If it takes you more than 15 minutes to install you should surrender all your tools.

I have used these fans in 4 rv's. In the bathroom, it will pull the toilet paper off the roll and you'll have to chase it up to the ceiling where it will float endlessly until you pull it down.

I saw the Vortex but my existing one has the gears stripped that raise and lower the cover so I need a whole new fan.

I'm in exactly the same situation...

But since it's under warranty: I'll let the Dealership work it out with Tiffin!

Tuscany came with three 10 speed Fan-Tastic fans and all work well as expected

Having the ability to use a very low or high speed is handy and they really work well to cool the rig down on a sunny but cool day

i did the vortex fan a few years ago. it all swaps out inside so no need to disturb the roof area. BUT YOU NEED patience as the instructions are less than detailed
especially where you place the adapter to allow the new knob to operate the cover to open it.

i like it . good value

i got mine at amazon which was 30 less than CW

just to let you know they made the fan small, because if bigger it can actually suck out gases from black tank and you know what that will be like. be cautious on that mod

I replaced ours with a Heng's vortex as well.

It's not as "premium" as others, but it does the job well....and that's not a fan we run long term for comfort anyway.
It also shades a bit more light but I look at that as a bonus because it also insulates a bit better
it's a good fan...and it's cheaper that the "others" too!!!

Three Vortex fans installed in last three rv's in the bathroom. No problem with sewer gas.

What ever fan you put in, you should not have to replace the outer parts. If you need to replace the vent cover and / or operating gear that is not the same as replacing the fan. you might want to just purchase and replace the worn operating gear parts rather than relacing the whole frame and "door". No need to mess with the caulk. All work from inside coach. I've done this kind of work on all 4 RV's I've owned.
By the way, every time I've "upgraded" a fan I bought a Heng's Vortex multi speed, reversble, full diameter fan. Never had a problem, I've installed 4. 1 in my "77" Mallard Goldeneye 25 ft TT. 1 in My "04" Forest river Grand Surveyor 27 ft TT. 1 in my 2005 Fleetwood Bounder 37 Ft DSDP. 1 in my 2016 Thor Palazzo 36.2 DSDP. Same model fan did the job in all of them. I had to replace operating gear parts in the Mallard and the Fleetwood. Both had heavy use.

Thanks, I do know that I can just replace the gear mechanism but the fan and cover are very poor quality and I will feel better just replacing it. I think the reason the gears got stripped is from trying to get it closed tight enough to seal and not rattle. The weather strip is garbage. I had to remove the rear fan to install a second A/C so I know what I am getting into with removal of the caulk. It was a pain, but really only took me about an hour. So to me well worth the hassle.

Just installed this new fan ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) in our bathroom on Tuesday, as it was an identical match to the other two roof fans that came with the Vegas. Also ordered the Maxxair Fanmate cover and everything went fit well. Make sure you have have a roll of Butyl tape to help with the seal and a tube of Dicor. Agreed that the the old caulk was a PITA to remove but with lots of elbow grease, install was not that bad you will be pleased with the outcome!
