Hello All,

on a 2016 ACE 30.2 does anyone know what type of batter charger is installed and where is it located?

The charger/converter should be located beneath the circuit panel. Take off the front panel and you will find it. Note the make/model and then Google it.

Thor generally uses WFCO converter/chargers in their lower-end products. In the Axis/Vegas coaches it has been the 8945. Can't say this will be true for the ACE.

The WFCO chargers are three-stage (bulk, absorption, float or trickle), but there have been lots of reports that they do not switch from stage to stage reliably. They either bulk-charge too long and cook batteries or don't go into bulk-charge at all and the batteries never get fully charged.

Replacing the WFCO with a Progressive Dynamics is on my to-do list.

Regards,

Randy

99% sure it's a WFCO unit. It's supposed to be a 3 stage unit, Bulk 14.4v, absorption 13.6v & float 13.2v. Just replaced my WFCO 8955 with a Progressive Dynamics 4655 direct replacement due to OEM unit being stuck in float mode. Battery voltage can be 11.8v, turn every light, fan & tv/dvd on and charger still wouldn't go into bulk or absorption mode. I've noticed my two group 27's aren't performing well, I'm sure they sulfated up due to lack of charge. Will replace with two Interstate Pro ECM group 29's this spring.....

Was the switch painless? Is it something I can handle or something that I should take to camping world?
