To me, Oregon to Florida in 8 days would be a brutal trip. That's a lot of time on your butt looking out the windshield dealing with wind, rain, traffic and the people that should not have driver's licenses. It also does not give you much time to see all the wonderful things along the way. The wife and I learned on our first long trip that driving every day sucked the joy out of it. Sure we got across the country in a week, but were miserable and had missed so many things. We now drive a day, spend two nights, then repeat until we get to our destination. Some times we stay longer if an area is full of things to see or do.
This reduced our stresses and increased our entertainment/sight seeing opportunities.
