Question Can you sit at table when slide is in?

We have a Thor Challenger 37KT. The front has 2 small slides (Schwinn Tech), one of which has the couch. The couch has seat belts so I have to assume it is OK to sit in that slide when it is in BUT the back slide is a large cable driven slide out. The front of it has a table and 2 dining chairs and the back half has the closets and drawers.

My question is can we eat at the table when the slide is in - say at a rest stop - or do you need to stay off of those slides unless they are pushed out?

All slides can be used whether extended or retracted.

Slides don't care.

Sure, use the coach as you see fit with slides in or out. We do.

We have no other option but to sit in seats in our coach that are in the slide. And on most long trips we don’t even move the slides out for a quick overnight stay.

This youtube says some slides should not be used when retracted.

It may depend on your RV, but at least in our Thor Hurricane, the dinnet seat facing forward has seatbelts installed from factory ( not on the rear facing seat for safety).

The opinion of the Youtuber, is wrong, because when closed, the slide is supported by the trim, that's why it doesn't need rollers for support.

What I would avoid is seating on the slide while it's moving in or out basically to avoid adding unnecessary weight for the motor to handle.

But that's my opinion and its about our particular unit.

For definite answer... Call your manufacturer or check the owner's manual for your unit.

I agree with prosper some unit shouldn't be used when in. But during our challenger 37kt walk through we asked that specific question, "Can we use the table while the slide is in?". We got "YES". I also agree you shouldn't be on a slide moving in or out, as the extra weight is hard on the slide roller or slide plate.

Only my .02
