Do you know what this is?
We had the windshield replaced on our Thor Axis 24.1. Quite interesting - lots of hassles for the shop and a bill of $5000 plus...
We didn't notice this initially, but there is a "thing" hanging down... looks like a mini- or microswitch of some sort. Anybody know what this is for - and what, if anything, we should do about it?

The windshield installers put that there just to make you wonder what the heck is this! ...

It is the button that is used to set the top and bottom limits for the shade.

thanks for the info... so... I don't know where this was "hidden" before... but I'm assuming if the shade is operating properly, I can just "tuck it in" and call it good???

Just tuck it up -- that's where it was in the first place before they changed the windshield.

Looks like a typical Momentary Contact switch. They likely just forgot to pull the switch out of the 2 terminals.

Did you really pay over $5K for a windshield?

I certainly hope you had insurance .. we recently replaced ours due to damage from road debris...we had $800 deductible with our insurance.
(realizing this is after the fact...our Glass installer said the glass and install was about $3500)
Sooooo happy for that !

Striking road debris is a collision, glass breakage is comprehensive... A good policy may have a $500 deductible for collision, and a $50 deductible for comprehensive. Comprehensive also covers you if you hit an animal...assuming the animal was alive before you hit it. Deer, birds, whatever. Also comprehensive covers fire and theft.

RV repair place said there were two sources - and it was about $5300... the installation people added an extra $300 for having to set up a scaffold to do it. We had $500 deductible, so there was no difference to me between $3000 and $5000... repair people worked with insurance, so...

With my insurance, the difference between a $500 and a $50 comprehensive deductible is not very much per year...in my experience you are much more likely to have a comprehensive claim... you might want to check rates.

thanks, Bob... good thought. Over the years a lot of our auto policies just sort of automatically had full glass, so I didn't even remember the deductible on the windshield...
and with the Axis/Vista, that windshield is a real eye-catcher - get's lots of attention - but it is also unfortunately a real rock-catcher. I don't think we did our first 100 miles on a two lane before the first ding. nursed it along for two years collecting more until we finally got the crack that kept on going...

Same with our Ace. We had traveled about 800 miles on a trip when a rock made a nice chip in our windshield. I elected not to turn it into the insurance and had it "repaired" but they did a poor job .... next year if I pick up another rock chip I am going to replace the windshield. I have no idea what one costs but I have insurance....so it will cost me $50.
