That's fair enough...
But when you put your "business" on a public forum... it's gonna get read!

I didn't post this bay door subject to argue with anyone. It is a very expensive fix and I just wanted everyone to be aware there is a possible problem lurking.

is this a result of a design/assembly change recently, any older models having the same issue?

Cant say, mine is a 2017 challenger, and I know of several other 2017s with the problem. Although that could extend to any model in the lineup. I am keeping track of any other instances.

I have written a letter to thor customer service, explaining the problem, and suggesting it is a safety issue. I suggest everyone with the problem do the same.

There is a Phone # in the Thor Motorcoach Owners Manual for reporting Safety Defects to the National Transportation Safety Board, think I'll call them them tomorrow.

Got a call from Thor Customer Service Supervision yesterday to say they had
" Reached Out " to the vendor Who supplies the CARGO DOORS, for the Challenger and have had no response, so your more than welcome to contact them yourself, but Thor will not replace the door ! The vendor is MISHAWAKA SHEET METAL .
WONDER if they're aware that Thor has thrown them under the bus !
(No pun intended )

Max - I had a problem with our frame extension and Thor passed the problem on to their supplier. The supplier was very responsive and worked with me to fix the issue. In my second career I worked for a huge manufacturing company that opted for a similar strategy. It was an attempt to "firewall" liabilities. In my case with Thor, all I wanted was the issue fixed.

Our last coach was a Tiffin (and our next one will be too). They fixed various things that they considered manufacturing or engineering defects for years after the warranty expired. Their CEO doesn’t have a door on his office...walk right in and talk to him.

My Hurricane spent several months at the CW service department during the warranty period. After expiration I paid somebody else for repairs to the furnace that CW claimed, after weeks in their back lot, that no problem was found.

To be fair, being a franchise system, some CWs are excellent and some not. Thor can’t afford to give up CW as they sell most of the lower-end Thor brand coaches. CW corporate needs to take steps to clean up the poor reputation created by some of their franchisees.

At the same time, $80k or $100k is a significant amount of money for most folks, if not to Thor. They need to improve our customer experience if they expect us to buy Thor when we make the decision to move up.

I plan on talking to Mishawaka Sheet Metal as it's ovious Thor could care less. I just don't understand Thor not taking care of an obvious design/manufacturing flaw. One Lawsuite because someone was injured, or Killed by a flying door panel, or in a crash caused by one, will cost them more than correcting this problem. I have to get this registered/documented with the NTSB so if it does happen, there is ample proof, that Thor was well aware of the problem.

Cargo Door Skin peeling off

I see that I'm not the only Challenger with this issue. I consider myself out of warranty so I will attempt to fix myself (2017 37TB). Clear gorilla tape is holding it on for now, but starting to look like heck....does anyone have any permanent solution suggestions? Thanks

With 89,000 posts on the Spyder forum and already 3,000 on this one, Bob needs to find something else to entertain himself. I have it, how about taking a vacation in the RV.
