Class C overhead Map courtesy light Console

Class C overhead Map courtesy light Console
Has anyone replaced the dome courtesy light over the mirror on a class C.
The one they gave me is crap and also works off the dash dimmer switch.

I would like to have Map/reading lights for passenger & driver, and also some usb ports (for gps or TPMS), I would eliminate the existing wire and run a new one from fuse box.

I was thinking going to a junkyard for a used console from a small car as the space is small over the mirror. Hopefully finding something that could be mounted with some modifications

My other option is to make one out of wood and purchase & mount my own lights switches & UsB ports. I could upholster the wood box with similar type of vinyl as the cab.

Agree on the lack of quality for this fixture. I have the same one. Only upgrade I have done to date is change the bulb to an LED and slightly higher brightness.
On my list to find a replacement fixture too, that might add a map light for the passenger side. Sorry not yet, let us know what you find.

Here is my prototype of my Map light Console:
I ran a separate fused wire from the coach batteries to power everything.
The Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) is temporarily mounted on the front near the master power switch, thisTPMS is from my car, and I still haven't purchased a RV TPMS unit yet.
(The shown TPMS will be removed as it does not exceed 62 PSI)
The Console has a double USB port closest to the windshield to power the TPMS and the windshield mounted GPS. This eliminates multiple wires across the Dash.
The 2 LED lights closest to the windshield operate off the middle mini switch.
the other 2 led lights operate independently off mini switches, (The passenger and driver have separate LED lights and Mini switches)

The 12 Volt display is wired to a "ON" -"ON" Mini switch. when switched to the rear it shows voltage of the Coach batteries, and when switched forward it shows voltage of the chassis battery. The chassis voltage is taken from the stock courtesy light wire.
It is constructed of 1x2 and 1/4" birch, the wood is then covered with fabric.
Cost:
4 Mini switches from Ebay $1.55
Dual USB power outlet from Ebay $5.87
4 LED 18MM Car Led Eagle Eye Lights $2.96
12v Digital Display $4.75
wood and fabric I Had
total $15.13
