2013 Thor Challenger Water Pump Problem

We had to buy a new water pump and my husband installed it. The pump works fine but he can't get water from the faucets or the toilet. He has done everything to fix it including blowing out the lines. If anyone can give us some suggestions it would be much appreciated.

Thank You

Open isolation valves and verify water in the FW tank.

So why was the water pump replaced? How long have you owned the RV? When was the last time it worked correctly? Does water flow correctly using the city water connection? Do you have a Kantleak water valve?

the pumps motor stopped working that' why he replaced it. We have had it for 16 months. In May it stopped working on our way back from Indiana. We don't have city water we have a well. He hooked up the water hose and it still didn't work. Not sure what valve you're talking about. There is no valve only a switch where the pump is.

So to summarize:

You have no water flow at any faucet either using the onboard tank and pump as the source or the city water inlet as the source?

Do you have a water filter in the RV? If so, have you changed it and verified it's isolation valve are open?

If no clogged filter and no closed isolation valves then you either have a pinched or clogged line.

That's about all the troubleshooting that can be done over the Internet.

If you installed a new pump, you have to prime the pump as it doesn't pump air very well. Turn the pump on and open at least two faucets for a while. It doesn't hurt the pump to run it dry. If you have an air leak in input line to the pump, it will never prime.

2013 Challenger

Thank you for all your help. He thinks it's either a pinched line or there could be a hole in the line. He has primed it several times. Thank you again.

Lou Lou, I have a 2013 Challenger as well. You can open a bay and view the water tank on the passenger side. 1) is there water visible in it? 2) did your husband change the position of any of those valves? That can switch it from tank to winterizing so it wouldn’t pull from the tank but from a (non-existent) bucket. 3) over on the driver’s side, in the water bay, there’s a lever that can be set to Fill/City Water (which means in via hose, not referring to the source of your home water supply). If it’s set to Fill and your back flow valve doesn’t work, then you also won’t get suction from the pump. I had that happen and it makes you think the pump doesn’t work.

There are 3 values where the you hook up the water hose. Does anyone know what the 3 values are for?

Black valve, gray valve, red, white, or blue valves. Sorry my crystal ball isn’t working based on the lack of info you provided. How about posting a pic if you want a half way educated response.

What model Challenger?
Are you talking the City water hose?
Or the anti-freeze hose?

Pictures help a lot when words are imprecise.

Loulou- let’s start over. With the water pump on, you are pulling water from your onboard freshwater tank. You must have a supply of water in the onboard tank.

City water is referring to hooking a hose to your unit and supplying water from an outside source, your well. When using “city” water you don’t need the water pump on.

So, when hooked up to your well, without the pump on, do you have water coming out of any of the faucets and toilet in the unit?

Now unhook from your well.

With fresh water onboard tank filled, without a hose hooked to your well, with the pump on, which faucets and toilet do you have water coming out of?

The pump works. Its just not pumping water into the toilet and faucets. Some one told my husband there is probably a hole in the line from the tank to the pump. Thank you for taking the time to respond and not criticize.

But did u do the above. If a hole between tank & pump you wouldn’t get water to the kitchen, and that hole would drain the tank dry, pump or no pump. And you’d see water leaking out under the Coach.
